نُخَالٌ ذ Bran.

1 نُخِىَ بِكَذَا ذ : He boasted of such a thing: see زُهِىَ بِكَذَا.

نَخْوَةٌ ذ Pride; self-magnification; haughtiness. (S, Msb, K.)

5 تَنَدَّسَ عَنِ الأَحْبَارِ ذ He sought to learn the news privily: see تَحَدَّسَ and تَحَسَّسَ.

رِمَاحٌ نَوَادِسُ ذ Piercing spurs: see a verse of El-Kumeyt cited voce غَارَةٌ, in art. غور.

1 نَدَفَ ذ [ He separated and loosened cotton by means of a bow and a kind of wooden mallet, by striking the string of the bow with the mallet: see حَلَجَ; and حَرَنَ] he beat cotton with the ↓ مِنْدَف, (S, Msb, * K,) also called ↓ مِنْدَفَة, i. e., his wooden implement with which he strikes the bowstring, that it [ the cotton ] might become fine. (K.)

مِنْدَفٌ ذ and مِنْدَفَةٌ: see 1; and see مِحْرَنٌ and مِنْبَضٌ.

5 تَنَدَّلَ ذ He bound a دَسْتَار [or مِنْدِيل i. e. napkin or the like ] upon his head. (KL.) And بِمِنْدِيلٍ ↓ تَمَنْدَلَ He bound a منديل upon his head. (Mgh.)

Q. Q. 2 تَمَنْدَلَ بِرَائِطَةٍ ذ He used a رائطة [or ريْطَة] as a مِنْدِيل. (TA in art. ريط from a trad.) ― -b2- See 5.

مِنْدَلٌ ذ app., Hard steel (ذَكَرٌ صُلْبٌ, not penis rigens ). (K.) See ذَكَرٌ.

1 نَدِمَ عَلَى مَا فَعَلَ ذ He grieved for what he had done; regretted it; repented of it: or he disliked it. (Msb.)

نَدِيمٌ ذ A companion in drinking; a cup-companion. (S, Msb, K.) And hence, Any convivial companion; a boon-companion.

مَنْدَمٌ ذ Repentance: an inf. n. of نَدِمَ; see an ex. in a verse of El-Kattál El-Kilábee, cited voce أَىٌّ.

1 نَدِىَ ذ It was, or became, moist, or moistened. (S, K.) ― -b2- مَا نَدِيَنِى مِنْهُ شَىْءٌ, (M,) or مَا نَدِيَنِى مِنْهُ شَىْءٌ أَكْرَهُهُ, (T,) [ A thing, or a thing that I dislike, ] did not betide me or befall me [ from him ]. (T, M.) And لَا يَنْدَاكَ مِنِّى شَىْءٌ تَكْرَهُهُ [ A thing that thou dislikest ] shall not befall thee [ from me ]. (M.) مَا نَدِيَتْ كَفِّى لَهُ بِشَرٍّ [ My hand did not evil to him ]: and مَا نَدِيتُ بِشَىْءٍ تَكْرَهُهُ [ I did not a thing that thou dislikest ]. (T.) See also art. عرق, first par., last sentence but two. ― -b3- سَأَلْتُهُ فَلَمْ يَنْدَ لِى بِشَىْءٍ [ I asked him, and he did not to me, or for me, anything ]. (TA, in art عنو.) ― -b4- مَا تَنْدَى صَفَاتُهُ i. q. مَا يَبِضُّ حَجَرُهُ, q. v. (S, art. بض.) See also art. صفو.

3 نَادَى عَلَيْهِ ذ [ He made proclamation of him ] (S, A, Msb) بِا@لْاـِفْلَاسِ (A) or أَنَّهُ أَفْلَس (S) or بِأَنَّهُ صَارَ مُفْلِسًا (Msb) [ that he had become bankrupt, or insolvent ]. ― -b2- [نَادَى به He proclaimed it; made proclamation of it: a very common signification, but one which I have not found in any Lex.] ― -b3- You say also نَادِى فِى النَّاسِ, meaning تَأَذَّنَ and تقَدَّمَ and أَعْلَمَ. (S in art. اذن. See اآذَنَهُ].) ― -b4- وَنُودُوا أَنْ تِلْكُمُ الجَنَّةُ: (Kur vii. 41:) see أَنْ as a contraction of أَنَّ. ― -b5- نَادَاهُ تُرَابُهُ: see نبأته الارض. ― -b6- نَادَاهُ He called him; called to him; summoned him, or hailed him: (S, Msb:) or, (T, M,) and نادى بِهِ, (M,) he called out to him (T, M) with the loudest voice. (T.)

5 تَنَدَّى ذ [quasi pass. of ↓ نَدَّى, It was moistened, by dew, or the like: or] i. q. نَدِىَ [ it was, or became, moist ]: said of a place [&c.]: and i. q. نَرَوَّى. (TA.)

نِدَاآءٌ ذ signifies simply The raising the voice; not implying the expression of meaning by speech. (Er-Rághib, TA.) ― -b2- حَرْفُ نِدَاآءِ A particle of calling, or hailing, or invocation; as يَا. ― -b3- A vocative particle. ― -b4- The vocative form of speech. ― -b5- Also, agreeably with many other instances, like خَلْقٌ in the sense of مَخْلُوقٌ, an inf. n. used in the sense of a pass. part. n., meaning A person or thing called; the object of a vocative particle, syn. with ↓ مُنَادًى.

نَدًى ذ , originally, Rain: (Msb: [but generally it seems to signify dew, absolutely; or day-dew. ] See a tropical usage in a verse of El-Kumeyt cited voce رِقْبَةٌ. ― -b2- نَدًى Bounty; liberality: (S, M:) a gift. (T.) ― -b3- نَدًى Moisture (S, K) of the earth; as also ↓ نَدَاوَةٌ. (S.) ― -b4- نَدًى is generally thus written: not نَدًا.

نَدِىٌّ ذ An assembly: see a verse cited voce شَرَفٌ.

نَدَاوَةٌ ذ and نُدُوَّةٌ Moisture. (Msb.) See نَدًى.

مُنَادًى ذ : see نِدَاءٌ.

دَابَّةٌ نَرْجِسِيَّةٌ ذ A beast of carriage whose whiteness inclines to yellowness [like the narcissus]. (TA, art. قرطس.)

نِرْسِيَانَةٌ ذ A species of dates. (S, in art. رسو.)

1 نَزَعَ اـِلَى أَهْلِهِ ذ , (S, K,) aor. نَزِعَ , (S,) inf. n. نِزَاعٌ (S, K) and نُزُوعٌ and نَزَاعةٌ; (K:) and ↓ نَازَعَ; (K;) He yearned towards or for, longed for, or desired, his family. (S, * K, * TA, PS). ― -b2- نَزَعْتُ اـِلَيْهِ inf. n. نِزَاعٌ, I yearned towards, longed for, or desired, him or it; syn. خَنَفْتُ The feh is unclear in the text. . (Ham, p. 429.) See an ex. voce خَفْضٌ. ― -b3- Hence. نَزَعَ بِى اـِلَيْهِ It (desire) invited me to it. (Har, p. 606.) ― -b4- نَزَعَ اـِلَيْهِ He inclined to it. (Har, p. 234.) ― -b5- نَزَعَ اـِلَى عِرْقٍ كَرِيمٍ [ He inclined to a noble radical, or ancestral, or hereditary quality: and in like manner, لَئِيمٍ]: and نَزَعَ اـِلَى أَعْرَاقِهِ and نَزَعَهَا [ he inclined to his radical, or ancestral, or hereditary, qualities ]: and أَعْرَاقُهُ نَزَعْتْ بِهِ [ his radical, or ancestral, or hereditary, qualities inclined him ]. (L, in TA.) ― -b6- نَزَع It inclined by likeness. (Msb.) ― -b7- نَزَعَ اـِلَى أَبِيهِ (S, Msb, K,) فى الشَّبَهَ (S,) and نَزَعَ أَيَاهُ, (K,) He resembled his father: (Msb, K:) or inclined to his father in likeness; syn. ذَهَبَ (S:) or he took after his father; had a natural likeness to him. ― -b8- نُزُوعٌ signifies Yearning; and natural inclining. -A2- نَزَعَ and ↓ اِنْتَزَعَ He pulled, plucked, or drew, out, or up, or off; removed from his or its place; displaced. (S, Msb, K.) ― -b2- نَزَعَ ثَوْبَهُ, (Mgh, in art. خلع,) and نَعْلَهُ, (Mgh and Msb in that art.,) He pulled off his garment, and his sandal. See, however, خَلَعَ. ― -b3- نَزَعَ (Msb, TA,) aor. نَزِعَ , (TA,) inf. n. نَزْعٌ (Msb, TA,) He was at the point [or in the agony ] of death; meaning, of having his soul drawn forth: (Msb:) he gave up his spirit; as also ↓ نَازَعَ, inf. n. نِزَاعٌ. (TA.) ― -b4- نَزَعَ فِى القُوْسِ He drew the bow; (S, Msb, K;) i. e., its string; or he drew, or pulled, the string of the bow with the arrow. (TA.) -A3- تَنْزِعُهُ شَعَرَةٌ بَيْضَاآءُ, relating to a horse: see أَسْفَى.

3 نَازَعَهُ الحَبْلَ ذ He contended with him in pulling the rope; syn. جَاذَبَهُ اـِيَّاهُ. Hence, نازعه فى كَذَا (tropical:) He contended, disputed, or litigated, with him, respecting such a thing. (Mgh.) ― -b2- نَازَعَهُ الكَلَامَ (tropical:) He disputed with him in, or respecting, words. (TA.) ― -b3- نَازَعَتْنِى نَفْسِى اـِلَى هَواهَا, inf. n. نِزَاعْ, My soul strove with me to incline me to love her. (TA.) See 1.

6 تَنَازَعْنَا الحَدِيثَ ذ We discoursed together; one with another. (TA, art. هصر.) ― -b2- تَنَازَعُوا الَّجَزَ بَيْنَهُمْ (K, art. رجز,) They recited verses, or poetry, of the metre termed رَجَز one with another; as also تَعَاطَوْهُ. (TK, art. رجز.) ― -b3- تَنَازَعٌ The contending in altercation, disputing, or litigating, one with another: (K:) or تَنَازَعُوا they disagreed, one with another; held different ways or opinions. (Msb.)

8 اـِنْتَزَعَ See 1. ― -b2- اِنْتَزَعَ مِنْهُ حَقَّهُ He wrested from him his right, or due. ― -b3- اِنْتَزَعَ حَدِيثَهُ: see اِقتضب.

نَزَعٌ ذ Baldness on each side of the forehead: see جَلَحٌ; and غَمَمٌ.

نَزْعَةٌ ذ A baldness in the side of the forehead. See صَدْمَةٌ.

بِئْرٌ نَزُوعٌ ذ [ A deep well ] i. q. جَرْورٌ. (A, voce جَرْورٌ.)

نُزَّعٌ ذ is pl. of نَازِعٌ; as is also نُزُعٌ. (TA.) See an ex. in a verse cited بابٌ.

نَزَّاعٌ ذ Dragging much, or forcibly: see Kur, lxx. 16. ― -b2- العرْقُ نَزَّاعٌ (see Freytag's Arab. Prov., ii. 168) is probably similar to العِرْقُ دسَّاسٌ, and means The radical, or ancestral, or hereditary, quality is wont to return to its usual possessor: or it may mean, is wont to draw.

أَنْزَعُ ذ : see أَجْلَحُ.

مَنْزَعُ بِئْرٍ ذ [ The bottom of a well; the place from which the water is drawn ]. (TA, art. متح.)

1 نَزَفَ ذ He entirely exhausted (S, Msb, K) a well, (Msb,) or the water of a well. (S, K.)

مَنْزُوفٌ ذ Exhausted: see an ex. voce ضَرَطَ.

نَزَقٌ ذ Lightness, and unsteadiness, or lightwittedness, (S, Msb, K,) on an occasion of anger; (K;) i. q. سَرْبَخَةٌ; lightness in any work, or action: hastiness, with foolishness or ignorance: (JK, TA:) hastiness, or sharpness, of temper; irascibility; passionateness: a meaning deduced from various examples, and confirmed by present usage.

نَزِقٌ ذ Light, and unsteady, or lightwitted. (Msb.) See also نَزَقٌ: and see شُحْذُوذٌ.

نَزِقَةٌ ذ and ↓ نِزَاقٌ A refractory she-camel; hard to be managed. (Msb.)

نِزَاقٌ ذ : see نَزِقَةٌ.

اللَّبُؤَةُ أَنْزَقُ مِنَ الأَسَدِ ذ [ The lioness is more impetuous than the lion ]. (S, voce سَبُعَةٌ.)

نِزْكٌ ذ The penis (ذَكَر, S, K, i. e. قَضِيب, TA) of the ضَبّ (S, K) and of the وَرَل: (K: [in the CK, والوَركُ is erroneously put for والوَرَلِ:) accord. to the assertion of the Arabs, (S,) it (S, K,) the former, (S,) as also the حِرْذَوْن, (Msb voce حرذون,) has two penes (نِزْكَانِ); (S, K, TA;) and the female has قُرْنَتَانِ, i. e. [two wombs] رَحِمَانِ. (TA.)

1 نَزَلَ بِالمَكَانِ ذ (Kull) and نَزَلَ المَكَانَ (Msb in art. حل, &c.) He alighted, descended and stopped or sojourned or abode or lodged or settled, in the place; syn. حَلَّ فِيهِ. (Kull.) See حَلَّ. ― -b2- نَزَلَ لَبَنُ الشَّاةِ [ The milk of the ewe descended into her udder; i. e. she secreted milk ]. (S, K, voce أَضْرَعَتْ.) ― -b3- نَزَلَ مَنْزِلَ كَذَا It took, or occupied, the place, or became in the position or condition, of such a thing: see a verse cited voce أَنْ, near the end of the paragraph; and another voce حَبِيبٌ; and see مَنْزِلَةٌ. ― -b4- نَزَلْتُ, الوَدِىَ, for فِى الوَادِى: see دَخَلْتُ البَيَتَ in art. دخل.

3 نَازَلَهُ ذ He alighted with him, each to oppose the other, in war, or battle; inf. n. مُنَازَلَةٌ and نِزَالٌ. (Msb.) ― -b2- نَازَلَهُ He alighted with him.

4 أَنْزَلَتْ ذ Her (a camel's) milk descended [ into her udder ]: opposed to أَقْلَصَتْ. (TA, art. قلص.) ― -b2- أَنْزَلَتِ اللَّبَنَ [i. e. اللِّبَأَ She (a camel) excerned the first milk, or biestings, into her udder; i. q. أَبْسَقَتْ. (TA in art. بزق.) ― -b3- She excerned milk [either into, or from, the udder ]. ― -b4- أَنْزَلَتِ الناقةُ اللَّبَنَ مِنَ الضَّرْعِ [or فِى الضرع] The she-camel excerned the milk from [or into ] the udder. (TA, art. ذرأ.) ― -b5- أَنْزَلَهُ He lodged him; made him his guest; or gave him refuge or asylum; syn. اآوَاهُ; (S and K in art. اوى;) and أَضَافَهُ and ضَيَّفَهُ: (Mgh in art. ضيف:) [and he lodged and entertained him; ] namely, a guest. (Msb.) I. q. أَثْوَاهُ مَنْزِلًَا. (Fr in T in art. بوأ.) ― -b6- أَنْزَلَهُ عَنْ كَذَا He made him to resign, or relinquish, such a thing. ― -b7- أَنْزَلْتُ بِكَ حَاجَتِى [app. I imposed my want upon thee ]. (S in art. عر.) And أَنْزَلَ حَاجَتَهُ على كريم. (TA.)

6 تَنَازَلَ ذ He descended gradually, by little and little. ― -b2- تنازل اـِلَى أَحَدٍ He humbled himself, condescended, to one. ― -b3- تنازل عَنِ المُلْكِ He abdicated the kingdom. ― -b4- تنازل عَن شَىْءٍ He desisted from a thing. ― -b5- تَنَازَلُوا They alighted and ate by turns with different people; i. q. تَنَاوَبُوا, q. v.

10 اِسْتَنْزَلَهُ ذ He made him, or caused him, or it, to descend. (Msb.) ― -b2- اِسْتَنْزَلَهُ عَنْ رَأَيِهِ [ He sought to make him resign, or relinquish, his opinion ]. (Bd, xii. 11.)

نُزْلٌ ذ Food or rations at a halt: see سُكْنٌ, in two places.

نُزُلٌ ذ Food prepared for the guest. (Msb.) See مَفَثَّةٌ.)
