أَكْيَسٌ ذ [ More, and most, acute or sharp or quick in intellect; more, and most, shrewd, clever, ingenious, skilful, knowing, or intelligent ]: (Lth, ISd, A:) fem. كِيسَى (ISd) and كُوسَى: (Lth, ISd:) [in the CK, and in a MS. copy of the K, and in the text of the K as given in the TA, كِيسَى and كُوسَى, each of which is originally كُيْسَى, are said to be fems. of أَكْوَسُ; but this is evidently a mistake for أَكْيَسُ:] pl. كُوسٌ, [originally كُيْسٌ,] which is applied to women, [as well as men,] and كُوسَيَاتٌ, which is applied to women only. (Lth.) You say, هٰذَا الأَكْيَسُ [ This is the more, or most, acute &c.]. (Lth.) And أَىُّ المُؤْمِنِينَ أَكْيَسُ Which of the believers is the most intelligent? (TA.) And it is said in a proverb, أَكْيَسُ مِنْ قِشَّةٍ (A) [(tropical:) More acute &c. than ] a little female ape or monkey. (TA, art. قش.) And in a trad., أَكْيَسُ الكَيْسِ التُّقَى وَأَحْمَقُ الحُمْقِ الفُجُورُ (tropical:) [ The most acute of acuteness is piety, and the most foolish of foolishness, or the most stupid of stupidness, is vice ]. مُكِيسَةٌ ذ A woman who brings forth children acute or sharp or quick in intellect; shrewd, clever, ingenious, skilful, knowing, or intelligent: (TA:) and ↓ مِكْيَاسٌ, who does so usually; contr. of مِحْمَاقٌ: (A:) [and ↓ مِكْيَسَةٌ, who does so most generally: see an ex. of this under 4.]

مُكَيَّسٌ ذ : see كَيِّسٌ.

كَ ذ prefixed to a noun is called كَافُ التَّشْبِيهِ The ك of comparison. Respecting its being prefixed to pronouns, see أَنْ, suprà, p. 106. ― -b2- اـِجْعَلْ هٰذَا الشَّىْءَ كَأْسًا وَاحِدًا Make thou this thing to be [ uniform, or] of one way, or mode, or manner. (ISk, in TA, art. بأج.) ― -b3- كَذٰلِكَ The like thereof; such like; and simply such; and so. ― -b4- كَاـٍ and كاآءٍ: see كَأَىٍّ or كَأَيِّنْ voce أَىٌّ. ― -b5- كَمَا followed by a pret. often means Like as when: see an ex. in a verse cited above, p. 740. ― -b6- كَمَا is often followed by a pret. in the sense of an aor.: see exs. in EM., pp. 41 & 214. ― -b7- كَمَا أَنْتَ وَزِيْدًا [ Keep as, or where, thou art, and approach not Zeyd! like مَكَانَكَ وَزَيْدًا]. Heard by Ks. (L, art. عند.) ― -b8- كَمَاأَنْتَنِى Wait for me where thou art! Heard by Az from certain of the Benoo-Suleym. (L, art. عند.) ― -b9- ك of allocution is varied like the pronominal affix of the sec. pers., accord. to the sex and number of the persons addressed: see exs. in the Kur, iii. 42 and xix. 21 (Flügel's ed., and Lees' Keshsháf), xii. 37, ii. 46, &c., and xii. 32. But sometimes the same form is used in addressing a number of persons as in addressing one man: see, for ex., Kur, iv. 96.

كَبَا ذ : said of a horse: see above, art. حَنَذَ, p. 656 b. ― -b2- See also a phrase voce سَلَّةٌ. ― -b3- كَبَا He fell upon his face: (K, TA:) or so كَبَا لِوَجْهِهِ: S, TA:) and كَباَ also signifies عَثَرَ [ he stumbled, or tripped ]. (TA.)

كُتْكُتٌ ذ The coarse part of silk, and of tow, &c.

كِتَابٌ ذ (same as عَقْدٌ) The ceremony (not certificate) of a marriage-contract. كَتَبُواكِتَابَهُ عَلَى فُلَانَةٍ They performed the ceremony of the contract of his marriage to such a woman ( same as عقدوا عَقْدَهُ). ― -b2- أَهْلُ الكِتَابِ: see أَهْلٌ.

كَتِفٌ ذ [The shoulder-blade; ] a wide bone behind the shoulder-joint. (Mgh.) ― -b2- [Hence, The shoulder itself.] See طُرَّةٌ and مُؤُرَّبٌ.

كُِتْفاَنٌ ذ , as an epithet applied to the locust, see in TA, voce مُسَيَّحٌ. See also جَرَادٌ.

كِتَافٌ ذ of a زَبِيل: see حَتِىٌّ.

كَتِيفَةٌ ذ i. q. ضَبَّةٌ A broad piece of iron. A poet speaks of a wooden vessel of which a fracture is mended with a كتيفة. (S.)

2 كَتَّلَهُ ذ , inf. n. تَكْتِيلٌ, He made it (أَقِط [&c.]) into lumps, or compact pieces or portions. (TA.) ― -b2- And He, or it, fattened him. (Kr, TA.)

5 تَكَتَّلَ ذ It became compacted together in a mass; it became lumpy. See قِيدَ, art. قود.

كُتْلَةٌ ذ A lump, or compact piece or portion, (S, M, * Msb, K,) of a thing, (Msb,) or of gum, &c., (S,) or of dates, and of clay, &c.: (M, K:) a piece, or portion, of dates packed together in a receptacle: (Mgh:) and a piece of flesh-meat. (K.)

كتلة ذ i. q. زَبِيلٌ. (TA in art. حصن.)

مِكْتَلٌ ذ A زِنْبِيل, (Msb, K,) or thing like a زِنْبِيل, [or زَبِيل,] (S,) holding fifteen measures of the quantity termed صَاع; (S, K;) it is a thing [or basket ] made of palm-leaves, in which dates, &c., are carried. (Msb.)

مُكَتَّلٌ ذ Round and compact; (K;) applied to a head: (TA:) short (S, K, TA) and strong: (TA:) a man thick in body, (K, TA,) compact therein, and inclining to shortness. (TA.)

1 كَتَمَ ذ , aor. كَتُمَ , inf. n. كَتْمٌ [and كِتْمَانٌ], doubly trans., He concealed, or suppressed, a secret. (Mgh.) ― -b2- كَتَمَ الرَّبْوَ: see a verse cited in the last paragraph of art. عور.

5 تَكَتَّمَ ذ (K, art. دلس) He (a man) concealed, or hid, himself. (T, K, same art.)

6 تَكَاتَمُوا ذ They practised concealment, one with another: see تَدَافَنُوا.

كَتُومٌ ذ A strict concealer of secrets.

كَاتِمٌ ذ meaning مَكْتُومٌ: see دَافِقٌ, in two places. ― -b2- فِى كَاتِمِ السِّرِّ: see a verse cited in conj. 3 of art. عرض.

كَتَنٌ ذ for كَتَّانٌ: see an ex. in a verse cited voce شَارِبٌ.

كُجَّةٌ ذ , see بُكْسَةٌ in the K and TA.

4 أَكْحَطَ ذ : see أَقْحَطَ, in two places.

1 كَحَلَ ذ (assumed tropical:) He put out, or blinded, an eye with a heated nail, &c.: see an ex. voce سَمَرَ.

8 مَا ا@كْتَحَلْتُ غَمَاضًا ذ and غِمَاضًا &c.: see أَغْمَضَ. See also حَثاَثٌ.

10 اِسْتَكْحَلَ السَّهَرَ ذ (assumed tropical:) [ He became sleepless; as though he took sleeplessness as a collyrium]. (TA in art. حلس, from a trad.)

كَحْلٌ ذ and كَحْلُ (S, K) A year of drought, barrenness, or dearth; (S;) a hard year. (K.)

كُحَيْلٌ ذ a proper name for A horse of high breed; as also ↓ كُحَيْلاَنٌ. (TA.) ― -b2- كُحَيْلٌ Tar (قَطِرَان) in the dial. of El-Hijáz. (TA, voce غَرْبٌ; from the T.) See نفْظٌ.

كُحَيْلاَنٌ ذ : see كُحَيْلٌ.

عَيْنٌ كَحْلَاآءُ ذ An eye that is black, [or black in the edges of the lids, ] by nature, as though it had كُحْل applied to it. (Mgh.) Not in the TA. [It seems to have both of these meanings.]

كَحْلَاآءُ ذ A certain plant: see K, voce شِنْجَار: calendula arvensis: see Delile, Flor. Aeg., no. 864.

الأَكْحَلُ ذ The median vein. See وَرِيدٌ and أَبْجَلُ and أَبْهَرُ and الصَّافِنُ.

1 كَدَمَ ذ He bit with the fore part of the mouth. (S, Msb, K.)

6 تَكَادُمُ الحُمُرِ ذ [ The wild asses' biting one another with the fore part of the mouth ]. (TA in art. سحج.) See also تَسَانَّت.

كَذْبَانُونَةٌ ذ [Pers. كَدْبَانو] An intelligent housewife, who is a good manager. (K, art. هلج; but omitted in some copies.)

كُذِينَقٌ ذ : see مِدَقٌّ, in art. دقّ.

3 فلان يُكَارِزُ عن الحق الى الباطل ذ , inf. n. مُكَارَزَةٌ: i. q. يُعَاجِزُ, expl. in art. عجز. (TA, art. عجز.)

7 اِنْكَرَسَ فِى الشَّىْءِ ذ He entered into the thing and concealed himself. (IKtt, in TA, art. نمس.)

كُرْسِىُّ الخَاتَمِ ذ (T, K, art. بظر) The bezel of the ring. (TK.)

كِرْسَنَّةٌ ذ , thus written: (TA:) [ Bitter vetch: ] see خَانِقٌ.

كِرْسِنِىٌّ ذ [or كَرْسَنِىٌّ] A sort of حِمَّص. (The Minháj, in TA, art. حمص.)
