عَلَى بَعْضِ مَطْلُوبِهِمْ. وَلَكِنْ - مَعَ هَذَا - قَالَ تَعَالَى مُحَذِّرًا لَهُمْ وُقُوعَ مَا اسْتَعْجَلُوهُ: {قُلْ عَسَى أَنْ يَكُونَ رَدِفَ لَكُمْ} أَيْ: قَرُبَ مِنْكُمْ وَأَوْشَكَ أَنْ يَقَعَ بِكُمْ بَعْضُ الَّذِي تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ} مِنَ الْعَذَابِ. {وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ * وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ * وَمَا مِنْ غَائِبَةٍ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ مُبِينٍ} يُنَبِّهُ عِبَادَهُ عَلَى سَعَةِ جُودِهِ وَكَثْرَةِ أَفْضَالِهِ وَيَحُثُّهُمْ عَلَى شُكْرِهَا، وَمَعَ هَذَا فَأَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ قَدْ أَعْرَضُوا عَنِ الشُّكْرِ وَاشْتَغَلُوا بِالنِّعَمِ عَنِ الْمُنْعِمِ. {وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ أَيْ تَنْطَوِي عَلَيْهِ صُدُورُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ} فَلْيَحْذَرُوا مِنْ عَالِمِ السَّرَائِرِ وَالظَّوَاهِرِ وَلْيُرَاقِبُوهُ. {وَمَا مِنْ غَائِبَةٍ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ: أَيْ: خَفِيَّةٍ وَسِرٍّ مِنْ أَسْرَارِ الْعَالَمِ الْعُلْوِيِّ وَالسُّفْلِيِّ {إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ مُبِينٍ} قَدْ أَحَاطَ ذَلِكَ الْكِتَابُ بِجَمِيعِ مَا كَانَ وَيَكُونُ إِلَى أَنْ تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ، فَكُلُّ حَادِثٍ يَحْدُثُ جَلِيٌّ أَوْ خَفِيٌّ إِلَّا وَهُوَ مُطَابِقٌ لِمَا كُتِبَ فِي اللَّوْحِ الْمَحْفُوظِ. {إِنَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ يَقُصُّ عَلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَكْثَرَ الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ * وَإِنَّهُ لَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ} وَهَذَا خَبَرٌ عَنْ هَيْمَنَةِ الْقُرْآنِ عَلَى الْكُتُبِ السَّابِقَةِ وَتَفْصِيلِهِ وَتَوْضِيحِهِ، لِمَا كَانَ فِيهَا قَدْ وَقَعَ فِيهِ اشْتِبَاهٌ وَاخْتِلَافٌ عِنْدَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَقَصَّهُ هَذَا الْقُرْآنُ قَصًّا زَالَ بِهِ الْإِشْكَالُ وَبَيَّنَ بِهِ الصَّوَابَ مِنَ الْمَسَائِلِ الْمُخْتَلَفِ فِيهَا. وَإِذَا كَانَ بِهَذِهِ الْمَثَابَةِ مِنَ الْجَلَالَةِ وَالْوُضُوحِ وَإِزَالَةِ كُلِّ خِلَافٍ وَفَصْلِ كُلِّ مُشْكِلٍ كَانَ أَعْظَمَ نِعَمِ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ وَلَكِنْ مَا كُلُّ أَحَدٍ يُقَابِلُ النِّعْمَةَ بِالشُّكْرِ. وَلِهَذَا بَيَّنَ أَنَّ نَفْعَهُ وَنُورَهُ وَهُدَاهُ مُخْتَصٌّ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَقَالَ: {وَإِنَّهُ لَهُدًى} مِنَ الضَّلَالَةِ وَالْغَيِّ وَالشُّبَهِ {وَرَحْمَةٌ} تَنْثَلِجُ لَهُ صُدُورُهُمْ وَتَسْتَقِيمُ بِهِ أُمُورُهُمُ الدِّينِيَّةُ وَالدُّنْيَوِيَّةُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ} بِهِ الْمُصَدِّقِينَ لَهُ الْمُتَلَقِّينَ لَهُ بِالْقَبُولِ الْمُقْبِلِينَ عَلَى تَدَبُّرِهِ الْمُتَفَكِّرِينَ فِي مَعَانِيهِ، فَهَؤُلَاءِ تَحْصُلُ لَهُمْ بِهِ الْهِدَايَةُ إِلَى الصِّرَاطِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ وَالرَّحْمَةُ الْمُتَضَمِّنَةُ لِلسَّعَادَةِ وَالْفَوْزِ وَالْفَلَاحِ. {إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِي بَيْنَهُمْ بِحُكْمِهِ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْعَلِيمُ}

عَلَى بَعْضِ مَطْلُوبِهِمْ.
(from previous page) ⟵ Do not grieve over them, and do not be distressed by what they plot. And they say, "When will this promise come to pass, if you are truthful?" Say, "Perhaps some of what you seek to hasten is close behind you." That is, do not grieve, O Muhammad, over these deniers and their lack of faith, for if you knew the evil within them and that they are not fit for good, you would not despair or grieve. And let not your heart be distressed, nor your soul troubled by their plotting, for the consequence of their plotting will revert upon them. "And they plot, and Allah plots, and Allah is the best of plotters." And the deniers of the Resurrection and of the truth brought by the Messenger say, hastening the punishment: "When will this promise come to pass, if you are truthful?" This is from the foolishness of their opinion and their ignorance, for its occurrence and its time have been delayed by Allah until its appointed term and decreed by a decree. So its non-hastening does not indicate some of what they seek.
وَلَكِنْ - مَعَ هَذَا - قَالَ تَعَالَى مُحَذِّرًا لَهُمْ وُقُوعَ مَا اسْتَعْجَلُوهُ: {قُلْ عَسَى أَنْ يَكُونَ رَدِفَ لَكُمْ} أَيْ: قَرُبَ مِنْكُمْ وَأَوْشَكَ أَنْ يَقَعَ بِكُمْ بَعْضُ الَّذِي تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ} مِنَ الْعَذَابِ.
Yet, despite this, the Exalted warned them of the very thing they were rushing: {Say: Perhaps some of what you seek to hasten is close behind you}, meaning it has drawn near and is about to befall you—referring to the punishment they were impatient for.
{وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ * وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ * وَمَا مِنْ غَائِبَةٍ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ مُبِينٍ}
{Indeed, your Lord is full of grace to the people, but most of them do not give thanks. Indeed, your Lord knows what their hearts conceal and what they declare. There is no hidden thing in the heavens and the earth that is not in a clear Book.}
