وَلَوْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ لَا يَتَكَلَّمُ إِلَّا بِمَا يَعْنِيهِ وَلَا يَتَكَلَّفُ مَا قَدْ كُفِيَهُ قَلَّ كَلَامُهُ،

(from previous page) ⟵ The poet said: If a person's chest is too narrow for his own secret, then, as a proverb for this situation, the chest of the one entrusted with the secret is even narrower. And if a man were to speak only what concerns him and not bother with what he has been spared, his speech would be little.

وَلَوْ حَكَمَ الْعَدْلُ فِي أُمُورِهِ، وَفِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ إِخْوَانِهِ وَمُعَامِلِيهِ لَطَابَ عَيْشُهُ،

If justice governed his affairs, as well as his dealings with his brothers and associates, his life would be pleasant.

وَتَحْتَاجُ مِنْ هَذَا وَمِثْلِهِ مِمَّا قَدَّمْنَا ذِكْرَهُ إِلَى حِفْظِ السِّرِّ وَوَزْنِ الْقَوْلِ،
