الْمَفْعُولُ الْمُطْلَقُ قَوَاعِدُ اللُّغَةِ.

The Absolute Object (Al-Maf'ul al-Mutlaq) and Rules of Grammar.

أَقْرَأُ النَّصَّ الْآتِيَ: الدَّرْسُ الرَّابِعُ.

I read the following text: Lesson Four.

تَزْخَرُ أَرْضُ سُورِيَةَ بِالْكَثِيرِ مِنَ الْآثَارِ الَّتِي تَشْهَدُ عَلَى عَرَاقَةِ هَذَا الْبَلَدِ وَمَكَانَتِهِ التَّارِيخِيَّةِ الْمَرْمُوقَةِ، وَتَحْكِي قِصَّةَ جَمَالِ الْفَنِّ وَسِحْرِهِ، وَمَنْ يُشَاهِدُهَا يَعْجَبُ بِهَا إِعْجَاباً، وَيُقَدِّرُ حَضَارَةَ أَهْلِهَا تَقْدِيراً كَثِيراً:

Syria is rich in antiquities that attest to the country's ancient heritage and prestigious historical status. They tell a story of artistic beauty and charm; whoever sees them is deeply impressed and greatly appreciates the civilization of its people:

فَيَزُورُهَا السُّيَّاحُ مِنْ كُلِّ مَكَانٍ، وَيَنْدَهِشُونَ بِرَوْعَتِهَا كُلَّ الِانْدِهَاشِ، فَهُمْ يَجُولُونَ فِيهَا جَوْلَتَيْنِ أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مَأْخُوذِينَ بِبَرَاعَةِ مَنْ أَشَادَهَا؛ وَإِذَا مَا تَضَرَّرَتْ أَوْ تَأَثَّرَتْ مِنْ عَوَادِي الزَّمَنِ بَعْضَ التَّأَثُّرِ أَسْرَعَ الْمَعْنِيُّونَ إِلَى تَرْمِيمِهَا كُلَّ الْإِسْرَاعِ لِأَنَّهُمْ يَحْرِصُونَ عَلَى آثَارِ بِلَادِهِمْ ذَلِكَ الْحِرْصَ، وَيَعْتَزُّونَ بِهَا اعْتِزَازَ الْمُخْلِصِ لِتَارِيخِهِ.

Tourists visit from all over, amazed by the splendor of these sites. They wander through them repeatedly, captivated by the ingenuity of their builders. If the monuments are damaged by the ravages of time, those responsible hasten to restore them, driven by a deep devotion to their country's history and a sincere pride in its legacy.

أَقْرَأُ الْمِثَالَيْنِ الْآتِيَيْنِ، ثُمَّ أَتَعَاوَنُ أَنَا وَزُمَلَائِي عَلَى تَنْفِيذِ النَّشَاطِ.

I read the following two examples, then work with my colleagues to complete the activity.

تَعَجَّبْ مَنْ يُشَاهِدُهَا.

Admire whoever sees it.

تَعَجَّبْ مَنْ يُشَاهِدُهَا إِعْجَاباً.

Admire whoever sees it with genuine admiration.

أُلاحِظُ أَنَّ الْجُمْلَةَ فِي الْقَائِمَةِ (ب) تَخْتَلِفُ عَنِ الْجُمْلَةِ فِي الْقَائِمَةِ (أ) فَأَكَّدَتْ مَعْنَى الْفِعْلِ (تُعْجِبُ).

I notice that the sentence in list (B) differs from the sentence in list (A) because it emphasizes the meaning of the verb (to admire).

أَذْكُرُ الْكَلِمَةَ الَّتِي أَفَادَتْ تَوْكِيدَ ذَلِكَ الْمَعْنَى.

I identify the word that provides this emphasis.

أُلاحِظُ أَنَّ كَلِمَةَ (إِعْجَاباً) أَكَّدَتْ مَعْنَى الْفِعْلِ (تُعْجِبُ)، وَجَاءَتْ مِنْ جِنْسِ الْفِعْلِ، أُبَيِّنُ نَوْعَهَا: (فِعْلٌ - مَصْدَرٌ).

I notice that the word (admiration) emphasizes the meaning of the verb (to admire) and shares the same root; I specify its type: (verb - verbal noun).

أُسَمِّي الْكَلِمَةَ الَّتِي تُؤَكِّدُ الْمَعْنَى، وَتَكُونُ مَصْدَراً مِنْ جِنْسِ الْفِعْلِ مَفْعُولاً مُطْلَقاً، أُبَيِّنُ عَلَامَةَ إِعْرَابِهِ (الرَّفْعُ - النَّصْبُ - الْجَرُّ).

I identify the word that emphasizes the meaning and is a verbal noun derived from the same root as the verb as an 'Absolute Object' (Maf'ul Mutlaq), and I specify its case: (nominative - accusative - genitive).

أَسْتَنْتِجُ: الْمَفْعُولُ الْمُطْلَقُ: مَصْدَرٌ مِنْ لَفْظِ الْفِعْلِ يُذْكَرُ لِيُؤَكِّدَ مَعْنَاهُ.

I conclude: The Absolute Object is a verbal noun derived from the verb, used to emphasize its meaning.

The Absolute Object is in the accusative case.
