شَرْحُ رِيَاضِ الصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ كَلَامِ سَيِّدِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَّا حَدِيثُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ: «إِذَا صَلَّيْتُمْ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ، فَأَخْلِصُوا لَهُ الدُّعَاءَ»؛ فَالْمَعْنَى أَنَّكَ تَدْعُو بِحُضُورِ قَلْبٍ وَإِلْحَاحٍ عَلَى اللَّهِ لِأَخِيكَ الْمَيِّتِ؛ لِأَنَّهُ مُحْتَاجٌ لِدُعَائِكَ، وَاللَّهُ الْمُوَفِّقُ.

أَمَّا حَدِيثُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِذَا صَلَّيْتُمْ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ، فَأَخْلِصُوا لَهُ الدُّعَاءَ»؛
Regarding the hadith of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, where the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, "When you pray over the deceased, be sincere in your supplication for him."
فَالْمَعْنَى أَنَّكَ تَدْعُو بِحُضُورِ قَلْبٍ وَإِلْحَاحٍ عَلَى اللَّهِ لِأَخِيكَ الْمَيِّتِ؛ لِأَنَّهُ مُحْتَاجٌ لِدُعَائِكَ، وَاللَّهُ الْمُوَفِّقُ.
This means you should pray for your deceased brother with a focused heart and earnest persistence before Allah, as he is in need of your prayers. Allah is the Grantor of success.
