١٥٠ - بَابُ تَلْقِينِ الْمُحْتَضَرِ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ قَالَ لَهُ: «يَا عَمِّ، قُلْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ»، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ اللَّهَ عِنْدَهُ فَقَطْ، بَلْ قَالَ: «يَا عَمُّ قُلْ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ». فَهَذَا مِنْ أَفْضَلِ مَا يَكُونُ، وَمِنْ أَجَلِّ مَا يَكُونُ هَدِيَّةٌ لِلْمَرْءِ إِذَا لَقَّنَ الْإِنْسَانُ أَخَاهُ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ قَوْلَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، تُسَاوِي الدُّنْيَا كُلَّهَا، فَإِذَا حَضَرْتَ إِلَى أَحَدٍ - وَقَدْ حَضَرَ أَجَلُهُ - فَاحْرِصْ عَلَى أَنْ تُلَقِّنَهُ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ؛ امْتِثَالًا لِأَمْرِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَإِحْسَانًا لِهَذَا الشَّخْصِ، وَرُبَّمَا يُلَقِّنُكَ اللهُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ عِنْدَ مَوْتِكَ؛ لِأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ: «وَاللهُ فِي عَوْنِ الْعَبْدِ مَا كَانَ الْعَبْدُ فِي عَوْنِ أَخِيهِ» (١) خَتَمَ اللهُ لَنَا وَلَكُمْ بِالشَّهَادَةِ. (١) أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ: كِتَابُ الذِّكْرِ وَالدُّعَاءِ وَالتَّوْبَةِ وَالِاسْتِغْفَارِ، بَابُ فَضْلِ الِاجْتِمَاعِ عَلَى تِلَاوَةِ الْقُرْآنِ وَعَلَى الذِّكْرِ ...، رَقْمُ (٢٦٩٩) مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ.

150 - Chapter: Encouraging the dying to recite: There is no god but Allah.
قَالَ لَهُ: «يَا عَمِّ، قُلْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ»، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ اللَّهَ عِنْدَهُ فَقَطْ، بَلْ قَالَ: «يَا عَمُّ قُلْ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ».
He said to him, 'Uncle, say: There is no god but Allah.' He did more than just mention God in his presence; he specifically urged him, 'Uncle, say: There is no god but Allah.'
فَهَذَا مِنْ أَفْضَلِ مَا يَكُونُ، وَمِنْ أَجَلِّ مَا يَكُونُ هَدِيَّةٌ لِلْمَرْءِ إِذَا لَقَّنَ الْإِنْسَانُ أَخَاهُ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ قَوْلَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، تُسَاوِي الدُّنْيَا كُلَّهَا، فَإِذَا حَضَرْتَ إِلَى أَحَدٍ - وَقَدْ حَضَرَ أَجَلُهُ - فَاحْرِصْ عَلَى أَنْ تُلَقِّنَهُ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ؛ امْتِثَالًا لِأَمْرِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَإِحْسَانًا لِهَذَا الشَّخْصِ، وَرُبَّمَا يُلَقِّنُكَ اللهُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ عِنْدَ مَوْتِكَ؛ لِأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ: «وَاللهُ فِي عَوْنِ الْعَبْدِ مَا كَانَ الْعَبْدُ فِي عَوْنِ أَخِيهِ» (١) خَتَمَ اللهُ لَنَا وَلَكُمْ بِالشَّهَادَةِ. (١)
This is among the finest and most noble gifts one can offer. When a person prompts their brother at the moment of death to say, 'There is no god but Allah,' it is worth more than the entire world. If you are present with someone whose time has come, make every effort to encourage them to recite this, both in obedience to the Prophet's command and as an act of kindness to the dying. God Almighty may grant you the same grace at your own death, for the Prophet said, 'God remains in the aid of His servant as long as the servant remains in the aid of his brother.' May God seal our lives and yours with the profession of faith.
