بَابُ النَّهْيِ عَنِ الْقِرَانِ بَيْنَ تَمْرَتَيْنِ وَنَحْوِهِمَا إِذَا أَكَلَ جَمَاعَةٌ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ رُفْقَتِهِ.

Chapter: Prohibition against taking two dates or similar items at once when eating in a group, unless one has the consent of their companions.

عَنْ جَبَلَةَ بْنِ سُحَيْمٍ، قَالَ: أَصَابَنَا عَامُ سَنَةٍ مَعَ ابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، فَرُزِقْنَا تَمْرًا، وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا يَمُرُّ بِنَا وَنَحْنُ نَأْكُلُ، فَيَقُولُ: لَا تُقَارِنُوا، فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ نَهَى عَنِ الْقِرَانِ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: إِلَّا أَنْ يَسْتَأْذِنَ الرَّجُلُ أَخَاهُ.

Jabalah ibn Suhaym reported: We suffered a year of famine while with Ibn al-Zubayr and were provided with dates. Abdullah ibn Umar would pass by us as we ate and say, "Do not take two at once, for the Prophet forbade it." Then he would add, "Unless a man asks his brother for permission."
