شَرْحُ رِيَاضِ الصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ كَلَامِ سَيِّدِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Commentary on Riyadh al-Salihin from the teachings of the Master of Messengers, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

النَّاسُ وَالْأَنْعَامُ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَخَذَتِ الْأَرْضُ زُخْرُفَهَا وَازَّيَّنَتْ وَظَنَّ أَهْلُهَا أَنَّهُمْ قَادِرُونَ عَلَيْهَا أَتَاهَا أَمْرُنَا لَيْلًا أَوْ نَهَارًا فَجَعَلْنَاهَا حَصِيدًا كَأَن لَّمْ تَغْنَ بِالْأَمْسِ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ﴾ [يُونُسَ : ٢٤] ، وَالْآيَاتُ فِي هَذَا الْمَعْنَى كَثِيرَةٌ.

People and livestock, until the earth puts on its finery and is adorned, and its inhabitants think they have power over it; then Our command comes to it by night or day, and We turn it into a mown field, as if it had not flourished the day before. Thus do We explain the signs for people who reflect [Yunus: 24]. Many verses convey this same meaning.

وَلَقَدْ أَحْسَنَ الْقَائِلُ :

How well the poet said:

إِنَّ لِلَّهِ عِبَادًا فُطَنَا طَلَّقُوا الدُّنْيَا وَخَافُوا الْفِتَنَا

Allah has wise servants who have forsaken this world, fearing its trials.

نَظَرُوا فِيهَا فَلَمَّا عَلِمُوا أَنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ لِحَيٍّ وَطَنَا

They looked upon it and realized it is no home for any living soul.

جَعَلُوهَا لُجَّةً وَاتَّخَذُوا صَالِحَ الْأَعْمَالِ فِيهَا سُفُنَا(١)

They saw it as a deep ocean and took righteous deeds as their ships.

فَإِذَا كَانَ حَالُهَا مَا وَصَفْتُهُ، وَحَالُنَا وَمَا خُلِقْنَا لَهُ مَا قَدَّمْتُهُ، فَحَقٌّ عَلَى الْمُكَلَّفِ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ بِنَفْسِهِ مَذْهَبَ الْأَخْيَارِ، وَيَسْلُكَ مَسْلَكَ أُولِي النُّهَى وَالْأَبْصَارِ، وَيَتَأَهَّبَ لِمَا أَشَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ، وَيَهْتَمَّ لِمَا نَبَّهْتُ عَلَيْهِ.

Given this description of the world and our own purpose, it is incumbent upon every accountable person to follow the path of the righteous, to walk the way of those with intellect and insight, to prepare for what I have indicated, and to attend to what I have brought to light.

وَأَصْوَبُ طَرِيقٍ لَهُ فِي ذَٰلِكَ، وَأَرْشَدُ مَا يَسْلُكُهُ مِنَ الْمَسَالِكِ، التَّأَدُّبُ بِمَا صَحَّ عَنْ نَبِيِّنَا سَيِّدِ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ، وَأَكْرَمِ السَّابِقِينَ وَاللَّاحِقِينَ، صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ وَسَلَامُهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى سَائِرِ النَّبِيِّينَ ، وَقَدْ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: {وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ} [الْمَائِدَةُ: ٢]، وَقَدْ صَحَّ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «وَاللَّهُ فِي عَوْنِ الْعَبْدِ مَا كَانَ الْعَبْدُ فِي عَوْنِ أَخِيهِ»(٢)، وَأَنَّهُ قَالَ: «مَنْ دَلَّ عَلَى خَيْرٍ فَلَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ فَاعِلِهِ»(٣) ، وَأَنَّهُ قَالَ: «مَنْ دَعَا (١)

The most correct and guided path one can take is to adopt the conduct authentically reported from our Prophet, the master of the first and the last, the noblest of those who came before and those who will come after—may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him and all the prophets. Allah Almighty says: {Cooperate in righteousness and piety} [Al-Ma'idah: 2]. It is authentically reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Allah helps the servant as long as the servant helps his brother," and: "Whoever guides to goodness receives a reward equal to the one who performs it," and: "Whoever calls..."

أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ : كِتَابُ الذِّكْرِ وَالدُّعَاءِ، بَابُ فَضْلِ الِاجْتِمَاعِ عَلَى تِلَاوَةِ الْقُرْآنِ وَعَلَى الذِّكْرِ، رَقْمُ (٢٦٩٩)، مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ. (٣)

أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ كِتَابُ الْإِمَارَةِ، بَابُ فَضْلِ إِعَانَةِ الْغَازِي فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِمَرْكُوبٍ وَغَيْرِهِ، رَقْمُ (١٨٩٣)، مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ.
