نُبْذَةٌ مُخْتَصَرَةٌ عَنْ فَضِيلَةِ الشَّيْخِ العَلَّامَةِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ العُثَيْمِين.

A brief profile of the eminent scholar, Sheikh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymin.

مَكَانَتُهُ العِلْمِيَّةُ: يُعَدُّ فَضِيلَةُ الشَّيْخِ - رَحِمَهُ اللهُ تَعَالَى - مِنَ الرَّاسِخِينَ فِي العِلْمِ الَّذِينَ وَهَبَهُمُ اللهُ بِمَنِّهِ وَكَرَمِهِ - تَأْصِيلًا وَمَلَكَةً عَظِيمَةً فِي مَعْرِفَةِ الدَّلِيلِ وَاتِّبَاعِهِ وَاسْتِنْبَاطِ الأَحْكَامِ وَالفَوَائِدِ مِنَ الكِتَابِ وَالسُّنَّةِ، وَسَبْرِ أَغْوَارِ اللُّغَةِ العَرَبِيَّةِ مَعَانِيًا وَإِعْرَابًا وَبَلَاغَةً.

His scholarly standing: The Sheikh—may Allah have mercy on him—was among those deeply rooted in knowledge. By His grace and generosity, Allah granted him a profound capacity for identifying evidence, following it, and extracting rulings and insights from the Quran and Sunnah. He possessed a masterful command of the Arabic language, encompassing its meanings, syntax, and rhetoric.

وَلِمَا تَحَلَّى بِهِ مِنْ صِفَاتِ العُلَمَاءِ الجَلِيلَةِ، وَأَخْلَاقِهِمُ الحَمِيدَةِ، وَالجَمْعِ بَيْنَ العِلْمِ وَالعَمَلِ؛ أَحَبَّهُ النَّاسُ مَحَبَّةً عَظِيمَةً، وَقَدَّرَهُ الجَمِيعُ كُلَّ التَّقْدِيرِ، وَرَزَقَهُ اللهُ القَبُولَ لَدَيْهِمْ، وَاطْمَأَنُّوا لِاخْتِيَارَاتِهِ الفِقْهِيَّةِ، وَأَقْبَلُوا عَلَى دُرُوسِهِ وَفَتَاوَاهُ وَآثَارِهِ العِلْمِيَّةِ، يَنْهَلُونَ مِنْ مَعِينِ عِلْمِهِ، وَيَسْتَفِيدُونَ مِنْ نُصْحِهِ وَمَوَاعِظِهِ.

Because he embodied the noble qualities and praiseworthy character of the scholars, and because he lived by what he taught, he earned the deep love and respect of the people. Allah granted him widespread acceptance; they trusted his jurisprudential rulings and flocked to his lessons, fatwas, and writings, drinking from his vast knowledge and benefiting from his guidance and sermons.

وَقَدْ مُنِحَ جَائِزَةَ المَلِكِ فَيْصَلٍ - رَحِمَهُ اللهُ تَعَالَى - العَالَمِيَّةَ لِخِدْمَةِ الإِسْلَامِ عَامَ (١٤١٤هـ)، وَجَاءَ فِي الحَيْثِيَّاتِ الَّتِي أَبْدَتْهَا لَجْنَةُ الِاخْتِيَارِ لِمَنْحِهِ الجَائِزَةَ مَا يَأْتِي:

He was awarded the King Faisal International Prize for Service to Islam in 1414 AH. The selection committee cited the following reasons for their decision:

أَوَّلًا: تَحَلِّيهِ بِأَخْلَاقِ العُلَمَاءِ الفَاضِلَةِ الَّتِي مِنْ أَبْرَزِهَا: الوَرَعُ، وَرَحَابَةُ الصَّدْرِ، وَقَوْلُ الحَقِّ، وَالعَمَلُ لِمَصْلَحَةِ المُسْلِمِينَ، وَالنُّصْحُ لِخَاصَّتِهِمْ وَعَامَّتِهِمْ.

First: His embodiment of virtuous scholarly character, most notably his piety, broad-mindedness, commitment to the truth, dedication to the welfare of Muslims, and his sincere counsel to both the elite and the general public.

ثَانِيًا: انْتِفَاعُ الكَثِيرِينَ بِعِلْمِهِ؛ تَدْرِيسًا وَإِفْتَاءً وَتَأْلِيفًا.

Second: The widespread benefit of his knowledge through his teaching, fatwas, and written works.

ثَالِثًا: إِلْقَاؤُهُ المُحَاضَرَاتِ العَامَّةَ النَّافِعَةَ فِي مُخْتَلِفِ مَنَاطِقِ المَمْلَكَةِ.

Third: His delivery of impactful public lectures across various regions of the Kingdom.

رَابِعًا: مُشَارَكَتُهُ المُفِيدَةُ فِي مُؤْتَمَرَاتٍ إِسْلَامِيَّةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ.

Fourth: His valuable contributions to numerous Islamic conferences.

خَامِسًا: اتِّبَاعُهُ أُسْلُوبًا مُتَمَيِّزًا فِي الدَّعْوَةِ إِلَى اللهِ بِالحِكْمَةِ وَالمَوْعِظَةِ الحَسَنَةِ، وَتَقْدِيمُهُ مَثَلًا حَيًّا لِمَنْهَجِ السَّلَفِ الصَّالِحِ فِكْرًا وَسُلُوكًا.

Fifth: His distinct approach to calling others to Allah through wisdom and gentle preaching, serving as a living example of the methodology of the righteous predecessors in both thought and conduct.
