- If one performs the deeds of Tawhid outwardly while not understanding it, or not believing it in his heart, then he is a hypocrite, and he is worse than the pure disbeliever, due to the saying of the Almighty: 'Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire.'
- This is a great and extensive issue that becomes clear to you if you contemplate it in the speech of people; you see those who know the truth but abandon acting upon it for fear of losing worldly gain, status, or to appease someone, and you see those who act upon it outwardly but not inwardly, so if you ask him about what he believes in his heart, he does not know it, but you must understand two verses from the Book of Allah: he is excused, and he may come to know, become alert, and learn, unlike the stubborn, arrogant person; for this reason, the Jews were those upon whom is anger because they knew the truth and abandoned it, and the Christians were those who are astray because they did not know the truth, but after the mission of the Messenger, may Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace, the Christians became knowledgeable, so they became like the Jews in being those upon whom is anger.
- He, may Allah have mercy on him, says: If one acts upon Tawhid outwardly, meaning with the tongue and the limbs, but he does not believe it in his heart and does not understand it, then he is a hypocrite, and he is worse than the disbeliever who openly declares his disbelief, due to the saying of the Almighty: 'Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire.'
