Line-by-line translation · المعاني
- إِعْرَابُ الْفِعْلِ ، نَوَاصِبُ الْفِعْلِ الْمُضَارِعِ
- Verb inflection and the particles that put the imperfect verb in the accusative case.
- رَفْعُ الْفِعْلِ بَعْدَهَا إِنْ فُصِلَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَهُ ، نَحْوُ : « إِذَنْ زَيْدٌ يُكْرِمُكَ ، فَإِنْ فُصِلَتْ بِالْقَسَمِ نُصِبَتْ ، نَحْوُ : « إِذَنْ وَاللهِ أُكْرِمَكَ
- The verb remains in the nominative case after it if separated from it, as in: 'Idhan Zayd will honor you.' If the separation is by an oath, however, it takes the accusative, as in: 'Idhan, by Allah, I will honor you (1).'
- وَبَيْنَ وَبَيْنَ « لاَ » وَلاَمِ جَرِّ الأَزْمِ إِظْهَارُ أَنْ ، نَاصِبَةٌ ، وَإِنْ عُدِمَ (٢) ( « لاَ » فَأَنْ أَعْمِلْ مُظْهَرًا أَوْ مُضْمَرَا وَبَعْدَ نَفْيِ كَانَ حَتْمًا أَضْمَرَا
- Between 'la' and the lam of the future, the particle 'an' must be made explicit, as it acts as an accusative marker. If 'la' is absent (2), use 'an' whether explicit or implied. After the negation of 'kana', it must be implied (3).
- كَذَاكَ بَعْدَ « أَوْ » إِذَا يَصْلُحُ فِي مَوْضِعِهَا «حَتَّى» أَوِ «إِلاَّ» أَنْ خَفِي
- Likewise, 'an' is implied after 'aw' when 'hatta' or 'illa' can replace it.
- وَمِنْ ذَلِكَ قَوْلُ الشَّاعِرِ : إِذَنْ وَاللَّهِ نَرْمِيهُمْ بِحَرْبٍ يُشِيبُ الطِّفْلَ مِنْ قَبْلِ الْمَشِيبِ
- (1) An example of this is the poet's verse: 'Idhan, by Allah, we will strike them with a war that turns a child's hair gray before they reach old age.'
