The Kufans unanimously permitted treating hope (raja') like wishful thinking (tamanni), allowing its response when joined with the 'fa' to take the accusative case, just as the response to wishful thinking does. The author followed them in this, and both are exemplified by the Almighty’s saying: '(So that I may reach the ways, the ways of the heavens, and look)' in the reading of those who put 'attali'a' in the accusative, namely Hafs from 'Asim.
وَإِنْ عَلَى اسْمٍ خَالِصٍ فِعْلٌ عُطِفْ تَنْصِبُهُ « أَنْ » : ثَابِتًا ، أَوْ مُنْحَذِفْ
If a verb is conjoined to a pure noun, 'an' puts it in the accusative, whether the particle is present or omitted.
It is permissible for the verb to be put in the accusative by 'an'—whether explicit or implied—following a conjunction preceded by a pure noun, meaning one not intended to carry the sense of a verb. This is like the verse: 'Wearing a cloak, and having my eye cooled, is more beloved to me than wearing sheer garments.'
A permissible hidden pronoun, estimated as 'it' referring to the verb, serves as the deputy subject. The clause consisting of 'nasb' and its hidden deputy subject is in the nominative position as the predicate of the subject. 'Ka-nasb' is a prepositional phrase related to an omitted element acting as an adjective for an omitted verbal noun, meaning 'nasb' as an accusative existing like an accusative, etc. 'Nasb' is a genitive construct, and 'ma' is a relative noun serving as the genitive object. 'Ila al-tamanni' is a prepositional phrase related to 'yantasibu'. 'Yantasibu' is an imperfect verb whose subject is a permissible hidden pronoun estimated as 'it' referring to the relative 'ma', and the clause of 'yantasibu' and its hidden subject has no grammatical position, as it is the relative clause for 'ma'.
'In' is conditional. 'Ala ism' is a prepositional phrase related to 'utifa', and 'khalis' is an adjective for 'ism'. 'Fi'l' is a deputy subject for an omitted verb explained by what follows. The estimated speech is: 'wa-in utifa fi'l'. 'Utifa' is a passive past verb, and the deputy subject is a permissible hidden pronoun estimated as 'it' referring to 'fi'l'. The clause of the mentioned 'utifa' and its hidden subject has no grammatical position, as it is explanatory. 'Tansibuhu': 'tansibu' is an imperfect verb, the response to the condition, and the 'ha' is the object. 'An' is intended by its wording as the subject of 'tansibu'. 'Thabitan' is a circumstantial qualifier from 'an', and 'aw' is a conjunction, with 'munhadhif' conjoined to 'thabitan'.
لَهُ ثَابِتًا ، وَوَقَفَ عَلَيْهِ بِالسُّكُونِ عَلَى لُغَةِ رَبِيعَةَ
For him it is 'thabitan', and he paused on it with a sukun according to the dialect of Rabi'ah.
الْبَيْتُ لِمَيْسُونَ بِنْتِ بَحْدَلٍ زَوْجِ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَأُمِّ ابْنِهِ يَزِيدَ
The verse is by Maysun bint Bahdal, the wife of Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan and the mother of his son Yazid.
اللُّغَةُ : عَبَاءَةٌ ، جُبَّةٌ مِنَ الصُّوفِ وَنَحْوِهِ ، وَيُقَالُ فِيهَا عَبَايَةٌ أَيْضًا ، تَقَرُّ عَيْنِي
