- وَقَوْلُهُ :
- His statement:
- شَرْحُ ابْنِ عَقِيلٍ : الْجُزْءُ الثَّالِثُ
- Ibn Aqil’s Commentary: Volume Three
- وَلاَ تَرَى بَعْلاً وَلاَ حَلَائِلاً كَهُ وَلاَ كَهُنَّ إِلاَّ حَاظِلاً
- 204 - You will see no husband or wives like him or them, save for a protector.
- وَهَذَا مَعْنَى قَوْلِهِ : ( وَمَا رَوَوْا - الْبَيْتُ ) أَيْ : وَالَّذِي رُوِيَ مِنْ جَرِّ « رُبَّ » الْمُضْمَرِ نَحْوَ : « رُبَّهُ فَتًى » قَلِيلٌ ، وَكَذَلِكَ جَرُّ الْكَافِ الْمُضْمَرَ نَحْوَ : « كَهَا » : « كَهَا
- This explains his meaning: (And what they narrated—the verse). That is, the instances where the pronoun is put in the genitive case by 'rubba', such as 'rubbahu fatan', are rare. The same applies to the genitive case of the pronoun with 'kaf', as in 'kaha'.
- Parsing: 'khalla' is a past tense verb. Its subject is a permissible hidden pronoun, estimated as 'he', referring to the wild donkey. 'al-dhinabati' is the first object of 'khalla', and 'shimalan' is the second. 'kataba' is an adjective modifying 'shimal'.
- 'ummu aw'alin' is narrated in both the accusative and nominative cases. The accusative is by conjunction to 'al-dhinabati', while the nominative is by being an initial. In the accusative reading, 'kaha' occupies the position of the second object; in the nominative reading, it relates to an omitted predicate of the initial. 'aw' is a conjunction, and 'aqraba' is conjoined to the pronoun governed by the 'kaf' without repeating the preposition. This assumes 'ummu aw'alin kaha' functions as an initial and a predicate.
- الشَّاهِدُ فِيهِ : قَوْلُهُ « كَهَا » ، حَيْثُ جَرَّ بِالْكَافِ الضَّمِيرَ ، وَهُوَ شَاذٌّ
- The evidence here is his use of 'kaha', where he puts the pronoun in the genitive case with 'kaf', which is anomalous.
- وَنَظِيرُ هَذَا الشَّاهِدِ قَوْلُ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ الْيَزِيدِيِّ اللُّغَوِيِّ مُعَلِّمِ الْمَأْمُونِ بْنِ الرَّشِيدِ
- A parallel to this evidence is the statement by the linguist Abu Muhammad al-Yazidi, tutor to al-Ma'mun ibn al-Rashid:
- شَكَرْتُمْ إِلَيْنَا مَجَانِينَكُمْ وَنَشْكُو إِلَيْكُمْ تَجَانِينَنَا
- You thanked us for your madmen, while we complain to you of our own feigned madness.
- فَلَوْلاَ الْمُعَافَاةُ كُنَّا لَهُمْ وَلَوْلاَ الْبَلاَءُ لَكَانُوا كَنَا
- Were it not for pardon, we would have been theirs, and were it not for affliction, they would have been like us.
- وَمِثْلُهُ أَيْضاً قَوْلُ الآخَرِ
- Similar to this is the statement of another:
- لاَ تَلُمْنِي فَإِنِّي كَكُ فِيهَا إِنَّنَا فِي الْمَلاَمِ مُشْتَرِكَانِ
- Do not blame me, for I am like you in this; we are both partners in the blame.
- الْبَيْتُ مِنْ أُرْجُوزَةٍ لِرُؤْبَةَ بْنِ الْعَجَّاجِ يَصِفُ حِمَاراً وَأُتُنَهُ
- 204 - This verse is from a rajaz poem by Ru'bah ibn al-Ajjaj describing a donkey and his mates.
- Parsing: 'wa-la' is negative. 'tara' is a present tense verb with an obligatory hidden subject estimated as 'you'. 'ba'lan' is the first object. The 'waw' in 'wa-la' is a conjunction, and 'la' is redundant for emphasis. 'hala'ilan' is conjoined to the previous 'ba'lan'. 'kahu' relates to an omitted state from 'ba'lan', and 'wa-la kahunna' relates to an omitted state from 'hala'ilan', conjoined by the 'waw' to the previous state. 'illa' is an abrogated exception particle, and 'hazilan' is the second object of 'tara'.
- الشَّاهِدُ فِيهِ : قَوْلُهُ كَهُ ، كَهُنَّ ، حَيْثُ جَرَّ الضَّمِيرَ فِي الْمَوْضِعَيْنِ بِالْكَافِ ، وَهُوَ شَاذٌّ
- The evidence here is his use of 'kahu' and 'kahunna', where he puts the pronoun in the genitive case in both instances using 'kaf', which is anomalous.
