وَالْفَرْقُ بَيْنَ التَّحْضِيضِ وَالْعَرْضِ أَنَّ التَّحْضِيضَ طَلَبٌ بِحَثٍّ وَإِزْعَاجٍ، وَالْعَرْضُ طَلَبٌ بِرِفْقٍ وَلِينٍ؛

The difference between incitement and offering is that incitement is a request made with urgency and pressure, whereas offering is a request made with gentleness and ease.

وَلِهَذَا يَعْرِضُ عَلَيْكَ عَرْضًا فَيَقُولُ: «أَلَا تَتَفَضَّلُ عِنْدَنَا فَنُكْرِمَكَ».

This is why someone making an offer might say, 'Won't you join us so we can show you hospitality?'

أَمَّا هَذَا فَيَقُولُ: «هَلَّا أَدَّبْتَ وَلَدَكَ فَيَسْتَقِيمَ».
