وَبَعْدَ انْتِهَاءِ الْمُكَالَمَةِ الْهَاتِفِيَّةِ سَأَلَ أَحْمَدُ أَبَاهُ: كَيْفَ كَانَ النَّاسُ يَعْرِفُونَ أَخْبَارَ بَعْضِهِمْ فِي الْمَاضِي؟ رَدَّ الْأَبُ: كَانُوا يَسْتَخْدِمُونَ الرَّسَائِلَ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ الَّتِي تُنْقَلُ بِاسْتِخْدَامِ الْخُيُولِ، وَالْحَمَامِ الزَّاجِلِ؛ لِإِيصَالِهَا، ثُمَّ اسْتَخْدَمُوا الْبَرِيدَ الْحَدِيثَ. اتِّصَالَاتٌ وَمُوَاصَلَاتٌ.

After the phone call ended, Ahmed asked his father, "How did people keep up with each other's news in the past?"
رَدَّ الْأَبُ: كَانُوا يَسْتَخْدِمُونَ الرَّسَائِلَ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ الَّتِي تُنْقَلُ بِاسْتِخْدَامِ الْخُيُولِ، وَالْحَمَامِ الزَّاجِلِ؛ لِإِيصَالِهَا، ثُمَّ اسْتَخْدَمُوا الْبَرِيدَ الْحَدِيثَ.
His father replied, "They used handwritten letters, delivered by horse or carrier pigeon, before modern mail came along."
