قَالَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ : وَهِيَ دَمُ كُلِّ نَبِيٍّ . وَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَفُورُ حَتَّى وَقَفَ عِنْدَهُ أَرْمِيَا عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ : أَيُّهَا الدَّمُ أَفْنَيْتَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَاسْكُنْ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ . فَسَكَنَ فَرَفَعَ السَّيْفَ وَهَرَبَ مَنْ هَرَبَ مِنْ أَهْلِ دِمَشْقَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَتَبِعَهُمْ إِلَيْهَا فَقَتَلَ خَلْقاً كَثِيراً لَا يُحْصَوْنَ كَثْرَةً وَسَبَى مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ عَنْهُمْ .

قَالَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ : وَهِيَ دَمُ كُلِّ نَبِيٍّ
Sa'id ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz said, "It is the blood of every prophet."
وَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَفُورُ حَتَّى وَقَفَ عِنْدَهُ أَرْمِيَا عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ : أَيُّهَا الدَّمُ أَفْنَيْتَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَاسْكُنْ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ
The blood continued to seethe until Jeremiah, peace be upon him, stood before it and commanded, "O blood, you have decimated the Children of Israel; be still by the permission of Allah."
فَسَكَنَ فَرَفَعَ السَّيْفَ وَهَرَبَ مَنْ هَرَبَ مِنْ أَهْلِ دِمَشْقَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَتَبِعَهُمْ إِلَيْهَا فَقَتَلَ خَلْقاً كَثِيراً لَا يُحْصَوْنَ كَثْرَةً وَسَبَى مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ عَنْهُمْ
It calmed, and he sheathed his sword. Many of the people of Damascus had fled to Jerusalem, but he pursued them, slaughtered countless numbers, took many captive, and eventually withdrew.
