وَقَدْ قَالَ الْإِمَامُ أَحْمَدُ : حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ وَيُونُسُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ يُونُسُ : رَفَعَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : « كَانَ مَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ يَأْتِي النَّاسَ عِيَانًا ، فَأَتَى مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَلَطَمَهُ فَفَقَأَ عَيْنَهُ ، فَأَتَى رَبَّهُ فَقَالَ : يَا رَبِّ .. عَبْدُكَ مُوسَى فَقَأَ عَيْنِي ، وَلَوْلَا كَرَامَتُهُ عَلَيْكَ لَعَتَبْتُ عَلَيْهِ . وَقَالَ يُونُسُ : لَشَقَقْتُ عَلَيْهِ . قَالَ لَهُ : اذْهَبْ إِلَى عَبْدِي ، وَقُلْ لَهُ فَلْيَضَعْ يَدَهُ عَلَى جِلْدٍ - أَوْ مَسْكِ ثَوْرٍ - فَلَهُ بِكُلِّ شَعْرَةٍ وَارَتْ يَدُهُ سَنَةٌ ، فَأَتَاهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : مَا بَعْدَ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ : الْمَوْتُ . قَالَ : الْآنَ . قَالَ : فَشَمَّهُ شَمَّةً فَقَبَضَ رُوحَهُ » . قَالَ يُونُسُ : فَرَدَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَيْنَهُ وَكَانَ يَأْتِي النَّاسَ خُفْيَةً . وَكَذَا رَوَاهُ ابْنُ جَرِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي كُرَيْبٍ ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ الْمِقْدَامِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بِهِ ، فَرَفَعَهُ أَيْضًا . أَخْرَجَهُ الْإِمَامُ أَحْمَدُ فِي مُسْنَدِهِ

وَقَدْ قَالَ الْإِمَامُ أَحْمَدُ : حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ وَيُونُسُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ يُونُسُ : رَفَعَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : « كَانَ مَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ يَأْتِي النَّاسَ عِيَانًا ، فَأَتَى مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَلَطَمَهُ فَفَقَأَ عَيْنَهُ ، فَأَتَى رَبَّهُ فَقَالَ : يَا رَبِّ .. عَبْدُكَ مُوسَى فَقَأَ عَيْنِي ، وَلَوْلَا كَرَامَتُهُ عَلَيْكَ لَعَتَبْتُ عَلَيْهِ
Imam Ahmad said: Umayyah ibn Khalid and Yunus narrated to us, they both said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Ammar ibn Abi Ammar, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. Yunus said: He attributed this hadith to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying: 'The Angel of Death used to come to people openly, so he came to Moses, peace be upon him, and he struck him and put out his eye. He then went to his Lord and said: O Lord, Your servant Moses has put out my eye, and were it not for his honor in Your sight, I would have been harsh with him.'
وَقَالَ يُونُسُ : لَشَقَقْتُ عَلَيْهِ
Yunus said: 'I would have been severe with him.'
قَالَ لَهُ : اذْهَبْ إِلَى عَبْدِي ، وَقُلْ لَهُ فَلْيَضَعْ يَدَهُ عَلَى جِلْدٍ - أَوْ مَسْكِ ثَوْرٍ - فَلَهُ بِكُلِّ شَعْرَةٍ وَارَتْ يَدُهُ سَنَةٌ ، فَأَتَاهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : مَا بَعْدَ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ : الْمَوْتُ
He said to him: 'Go to My servant and tell him to place his hand on the hide—or the skin—of an ox, for he shall have one year for every hair his hand covers.' So he went to him and told him, and he asked: 'What is after this?' He replied: 'Death.'
