التَّوْرَاةُ بِيَدِهِ، وَفِيهَا مَوَاعِظُ عَنِ الْآثَامِ، وَتَفْصِيلٌ لِكُلِّ مَا يَحْتَاجُونَ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَلَالِ وَالْحَرَامِ. فَخُذْهَا بِقُوَّةٍ أَىْ بِعَزْمٍ وَنِيَّةٍ صَادِقَةٍ قَوِيَّةٍ ﴿ وَأْمُرْ قَوْمَكَ يَأْخُذُوا بِأَحْسَنِهَا ﴾ أَنْ يَضَعُوهَا عَلَى أَحْسَنِ وُجُوهِهَا وَأَجْمَلِ مَحَامِلِهَا وَسَأُرِيكُمْ دَارَ الْفَاسِقِينَ أَىْ سَتَرَوْنَ عَاقِبَةَ الْخَارِجِينَ عَنْ طَاعَتِي، وَالْمُخَالِفِينَ لِأَمْرِي، الْمُكَذِّبِينَ لِرُسُلِي. سَأَصْرِفُ عَنْ آيَاتِي أَىْ عَنْ فَهْمِهَا وَتَدَبُّرِهَا، وَتَعَقُّلِ مَعْنَاهَا الَّذِي أُرِيدُ مِنْهَا، وَدَلَّ عَلَيْهِ مُقْتَضَاهَا الَّذِينَ يَتَكَبَّرُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَإِنْ يَرَوْا كُلَّ آيَةٍ لَا يُؤْمِنُوا بِهَا وَلَوْ شَاهَدُوا مَهْمَا شَاهَدُوا مِنَ الْخَوَارِقِ وَالْمُعْجِزَاتِ، لَا يَنْقَادُونَ لِاتِّبَاعِهَا، وَإِنْ يَرَوْا سَبِيلَ الرُّشْدِ لَا يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلًا ﴾ أَىْ لَا يَسْلُكُوهُ وَلَا يَتَّبِعُوهُ وَإِنْ يَرَوْا سَبِيلَ الْغَيِّ يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلًا ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا ﴾ أَىْ صَرَفْنَاهُمْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ لِتَكْذِيبِهِمْ بِآيَاتِنَا، وَتَغَافُلِهِمْ عَنْهَا، وَإِعْرَاضِهِمْ عَنِ التَّصْدِيقِ بِهَا وَالتَّفْكِيرِ فِي مَعْنَاهَا، وَتَرْكِ الْعَمَلِ بِمُقْتَضَاهَا. ﴿ وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَلِقَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ هَلْ يُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ ﴾

التَّوْرَاةُ بِيَدِهِ، وَفِيهَا مَوَاعِظُ عَنِ الْآثَامِ، وَتَفْصِيلٌ لِكُلِّ مَا يَحْتَاجُونَ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَلَالِ وَالْحَرَامِ.
The Torah was in his hand, containing admonitions against sins, and a detailed account of everything they needed regarding the lawful and the unlawful.
فَخُذْهَا بِقُوَّةٍ أَىْ بِعَزْمٍ وَنِيَّةٍ صَادِقَةٍ قَوِيَّةٍ ﴿ وَأْمُرْ قَوْمَكَ يَأْخُذُوا بِأَحْسَنِهَا ﴾ أَنْ يَضَعُوهَا عَلَى أَحْسَنِ وُجُوهِهَا وَأَجْمَلِ مَحَامِلِهَا وَسَأُرِيكُمْ دَارَ الْفَاسِقِينَ أَىْ سَتَرَوْنَ عَاقِبَةَ الْخَارِجِينَ عَنْ طَاعَتِي، وَالْمُخَالِفِينَ لِأَمْرِي، الْمُكَذِّبِينَ لِرُسُلِي.
So take it with strength, meaning with determination and a sincere, strong intention, 'and command your people to take the best of it,' meaning to apply it in its best aspects and most beautiful interpretations, 'and I will show you the home of the disobedient,' meaning you will see the fate of those who deviate from My obedience, oppose My command, and deny My messengers.
سَأَصْرِفُ عَنْ آيَاتِي أَىْ عَنْ فَهْمِهَا وَتَدَبُّرِهَا، وَتَعَقُّلِ مَعْنَاهَا الَّذِي أُرِيدُ مِنْهَا، وَدَلَّ عَلَيْهِ مُقْتَضَاهَا الَّذِينَ يَتَكَبَّرُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَإِنْ يَرَوْا كُلَّ آيَةٍ لَا يُؤْمِنُوا بِهَا وَلَوْ شَاهَدُوا مَهْمَا شَاهَدُوا مِنَ الْخَوَارِقِ وَالْمُعْجِزَاتِ، لَا يَنْقَادُونَ لِاتِّبَاعِهَا، وَإِنْ يَرَوْا سَبِيلَ الرُّشْدِ لَا يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلًا ﴾ أَىْ لَا يَسْلُكُوهُ وَلَا يَتَّبِعُوهُ وَإِنْ يَرَوْا سَبِيلَ الْغَيِّ يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلًا ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا ﴾ أَىْ صَرَفْنَاهُمْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ لِتَكْذِيبِهِمْ بِآيَاتِنَا، وَتَغَافُلِهِمْ عَنْهَا، وَإِعْرَاضِهِمْ عَنِ التَّصْدِيقِ بِهَا وَالتَّفْكِيرِ فِي مَعْنَاهَا، وَتَرْكِ الْعَمَلِ بِمُقْتَضَاهَا.
'I will turn away from My signs'—meaning from understanding them, reflecting upon them, and grasping the meaning I intend for them, which their requirements indicate—'those who behave arrogantly on the earth without right; and if they see every sign, they will not believe in it,' even if they witness whatever they witness of wonders and miracles, they will not be led to follow them, 'and if they see the way of righteousness, they will not take it as a way,' meaning they will not tread it nor follow it, 'and if they see the way of error, they will take it as a way; that is because they denied Our signs,' meaning We turned them away from that because of their denial of Our signs, their negligence toward them, their turning away from believing in them and contemplating their meaning, and their abandonment of acting according to their requirements.
