مِرْيَةٍ: شَكٍّ.

Miryah: doubt.

كَفَرُوا بِمَا عَمِلُوا وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُمْ مِنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ وَإِذَا أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَأَى بِجَانِبِهِ، وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَذُو دُعَاءٍ عَرِيضٍ.

They disbelieved in their own deeds, and We will surely make them taste a severe punishment. When We bestow favor upon man, he turns away and keeps his distance, yet when evil touches him, he prays at great length.

قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ كَفَرْتُمْ بِهِ مَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنْ هُوَ فِي شِقَاقٍ بَعِيدٍ.

Say, 'Consider: if this is from Allah and you disbelieve in it, who is more astray than one who persists in deep dissension?'

سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ.

We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient that your Lord is a witness over all things?

أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ فِي مِرْيَةٍ مِنْ لِقَاءِ رَبِّهِمْ أَلَا إِنَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُحِيطٌ.

They are indeed in doubt about meeting their Lord; He encompasses all things.

الْفَهْمُ وَالِاسْتِيعَابُ.

Understanding and Comprehension.

نَضَعُ إِشَارَةً ( ) مُقَابِلَ الْعِبَارَةِ الصَّحِيحَةِ، وَإِشَارَةَ (X) مُقَابِلَ الْعِبَارَةِ غَيْرِ الصَّحِيحَةِ فِيمَا يَأْتِي:

أ- الْآلِهَةُ الَّتِي عَبَدَهَا الْكَافِرُونَ سَتَشْفَعُ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَتَدْفَعُ عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابَ.

A- The gods worshipped by the disbelievers will intercede for them on the Day of Resurrection and ward off punishment from them.

ب- الْمُخَاطَبُ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ كَفَرْتُمْ بِهِ... هُوَ الرَّسُولُ مُحَمَّدٌ.

B- The person addressed in the Almighty's saying, 'Say, have you considered if it is from Allah and you disbelieved in it...' is the Messenger Muhammad.

ج- الْكَافِرُونَ فِي شَكٍّ مِنْ قِيَامِ السَّاعَةِ.

C- The disbelievers doubt the coming of the Hour.

نَصِفُ طَبِيعَةَ النَّفْسِ الْبَشَرِيَّةِ فِي الْخَيْرِ وَالشَّرِّ كَمَا عَبَّرَتْ عَنْهَا الْآيَةُ الْوَاحِدَةُ وَالْخَمْسُونَ.

Describe the nature of the human soul in good and evil as expressed in the fifty-first verse.

مَا الْفَرْقُ بَيْنَ الرَّحْمَةِ، وَالضَّرَّاءِ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَاهُ رَحْمَةً مِنَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ ضَرَّاءَ مَسَّتْهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ هَذَا لِي.

What is the difference between mercy and adversity in the Almighty's saying: 'If We let him taste mercy from Us after adversity has touched him, he will surely say, "This is mine"'?

يَقُولُ تَعَالَى: وَرَأَى الْمُجْرِمُونَ النَّارَ فَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ مُوَاقِعُوهَا وَلَمْ يَجِدُوا عَنْهَا مَصْرِفًا.

The Almighty says: 'The criminals will see the Fire and realize they are about to fall into it, finding no escape from it.'

نُحَدِّدُ الْآيَةَ الْقُرْآنِيَّةَ الَّتِي تَتَوَافَقُ فِي الْمَعْنَى مَعَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ.
