انْقَطَعَ رَجُلٌ فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ، فَشَعَرَ بِعَطَشٍ شَدِيدٍ، ثُمَّ رَأَى بِئْرًا مِنْ بَعِيدٍ، وَلَمَّا وَصَلَهَا نَزَلَ فِيهَا فَشَرِبَ حَتَّى ارْتَوَى، حَمِدَ اللهَ الَّذِي نَجَّاهُ مِنَ الهَلَاكِ، وَعِنْدَمَا خَرَجَ وَجَدَ كَلْبًا يَلْهَثُ، أَشْفَقَ عَلَيْهِ، فَنَزَلَ فِي البِئْرِ مَرَّةً ثَانِيَةً، وَمَلَأَ حِذَاءَهُ، وَأَمْسَكَهُ بِأَسْنَانِهِ، ثُمَّ صَعِدَ مِنَ البِئْرِ.

A man was stranded in the desert and felt intense thirst. He saw a well in the distance and, upon reaching it, climbed down to drink his fill. He praised God for saving him from death. As he emerged, he found a dog panting and felt pity for it. He climbed back down into the well, filled his shoe, held it between his teeth, and climbed back out.

قَدَّمَ الرَّجُلُ المَاءَ لِلْكَلْبِ، فَشَرِبَ الكَلْبُ حَتَّى ارْتَوَى، ثُمَّ نَظَرَ إِلَى الرَّجُلِ نَظْرَةَ شُكْرٍ وَعِرْفَانٍ.

The man offered the water to the dog, which drank until it was satisfied, then looked at the man with gratitude.
