Line-by-line translation ·
- Hardships and crises.
- Ten years had passed since his mission began, and he had been trying to guide the Quraysh, yet only a few had accepted his message.
- He decided to try his luck elsewhere.
- Perhaps he would find more affection and kindness among his mother’s relatives than he had found in his own clan!
- It is no wonder his heart was filled with hope for their support.
- But alas!
- Did they not support him?
- He met with the worst treatment a sincere man could face for his message.
- Just as he had faced from the Quraysh?
- Or even worse.
- Did they not respect the bonds of kinship?
- Their whims led them astray.
- Stubbornness cast them aside.
- Immediate self-interest blinded them.
- They defended their idol to ensure they would not lose the profits brought by pilgrims in the summer.
- Just as the Quraysh had defended their own idols.
- So what did the Thaqif tribe do?
- They did not hesitate to incite their slaves and fools against him.
- They pelted him with stones until his feet bled.
- They showered him with a torrent of insults and abuse.
- They knew exactly how to make the Quraysh gloat.
- They knew how to please the devils and demons!
- Just as they knew how to anger God.
- So what did the Messenger do?
- Whenever he offered his guidance to a tribe,
- he met with the same treatment he had received from the Thaqif.
- Do you mean he reached out to other tribes as well?
