الدَّرْسُ الثَّانِي: رِحْلَةٌ إِلَى الْمَتْحَفِ الْمِصْرِيِّ الْكَبِيرِ.

Lesson Two: A Trip to the Grand Egyptian Museum.

الْقَوَاعِدُ الْإِمْلَائِيَّةُ: الْهَمْزَةُ الْمُتَوَسِّطَةُ عَلَى السَّطْرِ.

Spelling Rules: The medial hamza written on the line.

أَوَّلًا أَقْرَأُ الْكَلِمَاتِ الْآتِيَةَ: عَبَاءَةٌ - تَفَاءَلَ - بَرَاءَةٌ - تَسَاءَلَ - قِرَاءَاتٌ - بِنَاءَانِ - مُلَاءَةٌ.

First, read the following words: 'aba'ah (cloak), tafa'ala (to be optimistic), bara'ah (innocence), tasa'ala (to wonder), qira'at (readings), bina'an (two buildings), mula'ah (bedsheet).

ثَانِيًا أُلَاحِظُ: كُتِبَتِ الْهَمْزَةُ الْمُتَوَسِّطَةُ فِي كُلِّ الْأَمْثِلَةِ عَلَى السَّطْرِ.

Second, observe: In all these examples, the medial hamza is written on the line.

حَرَكَةُ الْهَمْزَةِ فِي كُلِّ الْأَمْثِلَةِ هِيَ الْفَتْحَةُ.

The vowel of the hamza in all these examples is the fatha.

جَاءَتِ الْهَمْزَةُ فِي جَمِيعِ الْأَمْثِلَةِ بَعْدَ أَلِفٍ.

In all these examples, the hamza follows an alif.

ثَالِثًا أَسْتَنْتِجُ: انْتَبِهْ: الْأَلِفُ الْمَقْصُودَةُ هُنَا هِيَ أَلِفُ الْمَدِّ، وَلَيْسَتِ الْأَلِفَ الَّتِي فَوْقَهَا هَمْزَةٌ.

Third, conclude: Note that the alif referred to here is the alif of prolongation (madd), not an alif bearing a hamza.

تُكْتَبُ الْهَمْزَةُ الْمُتَوَسِّطَةُ عَلَى السَّطْرِ فِي مَوَاضِعَ مِنْهَا: إِذَا جَاءَتْ مَفْتُوحَةً بَعْدَ أَلِفٍ.

The medial hamza is written on the line in certain cases, including when it carries a fatha and follows an alif.

أَخْتَارُ الْكَلِمَةَ الَّتِي كُتِبَتْ فِيهَا الْهَمْزَةُ الْمُتَوَسِّطَةُ عَلَى السَّطْرِ مِمَّا يَأْتِي: (أ) (تَفَاؤُلٌ - مُتَفَائِلٌ - تَفَاءَلَ).

Choose the word containing a medial hamza written on the line from the following: (a) (tafa'ul - mutafa'il - tafa'ala).

(ب) (سُؤَالٌ - مُسَاءَلَةٌ - سَأَلَ).

(b) (su'al - musa'alah - sa'ala).

(جـ) (يَتَضَاءَلُ - مُتَضَائِلٌ - تَضَاؤُلٌ).

(c) (yatada'alu - mutada'il - tada'ul).

(د) (بَرَاءَةٌ - بَرِيئُونَ - تَبْرِئَةٌ).

(d) (bara'ah - bari'un - tabri'ah).

(هـ) (مُضِيئَةٌ - ضَوْؤُهُ - إِضَاءَاتٌ).

(e) (mudi'ah - daw'uhu - ida'at).

(و) (مَقْرَأَةٌ - تَقْرَئِينَ - قِرَاءَةٌ).

(f) (maqra'ah - taqra'ina - qira'ah).

أُكْمِلُ كُلَّ جُمْلَةٍ بِكَلِمَةٍ تَحْتَوِي عَلَى هَمْزَةٍ مُتَوَسِّطَةٍ عَلَى السَّطْرِ:

Complete each sentence with a word containing a medial hamza written on the line:

(أ) أُحِبُّ قِرَاءَةَ الْكُتُبِ.

(a) I love reading books.

(ب) لَا تَتَشَاءَمْ لَكِنْ تَفَاءَلْ بِالْخَيْرِ دَائِمًا.

(b) Do not be pessimistic; always be optimistic.

(جـ) اشْتَرَتْ أُمِّي عَبَاءَةً جَدِيدَةً.

(c) My mother bought a new cloak.

(د) تَسَاءَلَ عَنْ حَلٍّ لِلْمُشْكِلَةِ.

(d) He wondered about a solution to the problem.

أَضَعُ خَطًّا تَحْتَ الْكَلِمَةِ غَيْرِ الصَّحِيحَةِ إِمْلَائِيًّا، ثُمَّ أُصَوِّبُهَا:

Underline the incorrectly spelled word, then correct it:
