الْوَحْدَةُ الْأُولَى: أَخْلَاقِي تَصْنَعُ عَالَمِي.

Unit One: My morals shape my world.

٩ أَقْرَأُ النَّصَّ قِرَاءَةً جَهْرِيَّةً مُرَاعِيًا النُّطْقَ السَّلِيمَ، وَالْوَقَفَاتِ الَّتِي تُنَاسِبُ الْمَعْنَى.

9. I will read the text aloud, focusing on clear pronunciation and appropriate pauses to convey meaning.

مُنَاقَشَةٌ جَمَاعِيَّةٌ: فِي مَجْمُوعَاتٍ صَغِيرَةٍ نَتَنَاقَشُ فِيمَا يَلِي: كَيْفَ نَتَنَاقَشُ مَعًا؟

Group discussion: In small groups, we will discuss the following: How do we hold a discussion?

• الْمُنَاقَشَةُ هِيَ تَبَادُلُ الْآرَاءِ حَوْلَ مَوْضُوعٍ مُعَيَّنٍ.

• A discussion is an exchange of opinions on a specific topic.

(أ) هَلْ يَجُوزُ لَنَا أَنْ نَسْخَرَ مِنَ الْآخَرِينَ وَنُقَلِّلَ مِنْ شَأْنِهِمْ بِدَافِعِ الْمُزَاحِ؟

(A) Is it acceptable to mock others or belittle them for the sake of a joke?

وَلِمَاذَا؟

Why?

(ب) كَيْفَ يُمْكِنُنَا أَنْ نُصْلِحَ بَيْنَ زُمَلَائِنَا الْمُتَخَاصِمِينَ؟

(B) How can we help reconcile classmates who are feuding?

(جـ) هَيَّا نُفَكِّرُ فِي طَرِيقَةٍ نُشَجِّعُ بِهَا زُمَلَاءَنَا عَلَى الِالْتِزَامِ بِالْأَخْلَاقِ الْحَسَنَةِ وَالْكَلِمَاتِ الطَّيِّبَةِ.

(C) Let us think of ways to encourage our classmates to commit to good morals and kind words.

اسْتَمِعْ لِزُمَلَائِكَ بِاحْتِرَامٍ.

Listen to your classmates with respect.

انْتَظِرْ دَوْرَكَ فِي الْكَلَامِ؛ لِيَسْتَمِعَ إِلَيْكَ الْجَمِيعُ.

Wait for your turn to speak so that everyone can hear you.

كَيْفَ نُلَخِّصُ النَّصَّ؟

How do we summarize a text?

حَدِّدِ الْفِكَرَ الْمُهِمَّةَ.

Identify the key ideas.

عَبِّرْ عَنْ هَذِهِ الْفِكَرِ بِجُمَلٍ قَصِيرَةٍ وَوَاضِحَةٍ.

Express these ideas in short, clear sentences.

لَا تَكْتُبِ الشَّرْحَ، وَلَا الْأَمْثِلَةَ، وَلَا التَّفَاصِيلَ.

Do not include explanations, examples, or minor details.

رَتِّبِ الْجُمَلَ بِشَكْلٍ صَحِيحٍ.

كَانَ مُهَنَّدٌ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى هَاتِفِهِ الْمَحْمُولِ، وَيَضْحَكُ بِصَوْتٍ مُرْتَفِعٍ، فَسَأَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ عَنْ سَبَبِ ضَحِكِهِ بِهَذِهِ الطَّرِيقَةِ، فَقَالَ: «صَدِيقِي عِمَادٌ نَشَرَ صُورَةً لَهُ، فَكَتَبْتُ تَعْلِيقًا سَيَجْعَلُ الْجَمِيعَ يَضْحَكُونَ عَلَيْهِ»، طَلَبَتِ الْأُمُّ أَنْ تَرَى التَّعْلِيقَ، فَلَمَّا قَرَأَتْهُ قَالَتْ بِحَزْمٍ: «هَذَا التَّعْلِيقُ غَيْرُ مُنَاسِبٍ امْسَحْهُ فَوْرًا».

Muhannad was looking at his phone and laughing loudly. His mother asked him why he was laughing, and he replied, "My friend Imad posted a picture, and I wrote a comment that will make everyone laugh at him." His mother asked to see the comment. After reading it, she said firmly, "This comment is inappropriate. Delete it immediately."

فَمَسَحَ مُهَنَّدٌ التَّعْلِيقَ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ أُمُّهُ: «هَذَا الْكَلَامُ يُؤْذِي مَشَاعِرَ صَدِيقِكَ».

Muhannad deleted the comment, and his mother told him, "Those words hurt your friend's feelings."

اعْتَذَرَ مُهَنَّدٌ لِأُمِّهِ، وَقَالَ: «أَنْتِ عَلَى حَقٍّ يَا أُمِّي، سَأَكْتُبُ لَهُ تَعْلِيقًا جَمِيلًا يُسْعِدُهُ».

Muhannad apologized to his mother and said, "You are right, Mother. I will write him a kind comment that will make him happy instead."

ابْتَسَمَتِ الْأُمُّ، وَقَالَتْ: «أَحْسَنْتَ يَا مُهَنَّدُ، وَتَذَكَّرْ دَائِمًا أَنَّ الْكَلِمَاتِ الطَّيِّبَةَ تَزْرَعُ الْمَحَبَّةَ، أَمَّا الْكَلِمَاتُ الْجَارِحَةُ فَتُسَبِّبُ الْحُزْنَ وَتُفْسِدُ الْعَلَاقَاتِ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ».

His mother smiled and said, "Well done, Muhannad. Always remember that kind words cultivate love, while hurtful words cause sadness and damage relationships between people."

(أ) أَسْتَخْرِجُ مِنَ الْفِقْرَةِ: مَعْنَى (يَضُرُّ): مُضَادَّ (الْخَبِيثَةِ):

(A) From the paragraph, find: The meaning of "harms": The opposite of "malicious":
