- The thirteenth point: His saying to the farthest and the nearest, 'I cannot avail you anything against Allah,' etc. He spoke the truth, may Allah have mercy on him, in what he said, for if this speaker is the master of the messengers, and he said it to the mistress of the women of the worlds, and we believe that the Messenger says nothing but the truth, and that he cannot avail his daughter anything, it becomes clear to us now that what the elite of the people do is an abandonment of monotheism. This is because there are elite people who see themselves as scholars, and those around them see them as scholars and worthy of being followed, who call upon the Messenger to remove harm and bring benefit in an explicit invocation, repeating: 'O most noble of creation, I have no one to take refuge in but you when a universal calamity befalls,' and other forms of polytheism. If someone objects to them regarding this, they reply to the objector that he does not know the right of the Messenger, his status with Allah, that he is the master of the universe, that the jinn and mankind were not created except for his sake, and that he was created from the light of the Throne. They confuse the common people with this, and some believe them due to their ignorance. If someone were to come to them calling them to monotheism, they would not respond to him, because their master and their scholar are contrary to monotheism, 'And even if you were to bring to those who were given the Scripture every sign, they would not follow your qiblah.'
