Final Evaluation.

١. أَقْرَأُ النَّصَّ ثُمَّ أُصَنِّفُ الْأَفْعَالَ الْوَارِدَةَ فِي الْجَدْوَلِ: نَسَجْتُ مِنْ حُرُوفِ أَبْجَدِيَّاتِ الْعَالَمِ جَمِيعِهَا أُغْنِيَاتٍ وَحِكَايَاتٍ لَوَّنْتُهَا بِعَبِيرِ الشَّوْقِ، وَقَدِ اسْتَعْذَبَتْهَا رُوحِي، وَاجْتَمَعَتْ لِتُؤَلَّفَ لَحْناً أَعْزِفُهُ عَلَى عُودِ الرَّيْحَانِ الَّذِي تَنَاثَرَ عَبَقُهُ آهَاتٍ أَسْبَلَتْ بَتَلَاتُهَا نَدَى الدُّمُوعِ، لَعَلَّهَا تَكُونُ رَسُولِي إِلَيْكَ، فَمَا سَأَكْتُبُهُ عَنْكَ، يَا وَطَنِي، لَيْسَتْ قَصَائِدَ أَتَغَنَّى بِهَا، بَلْ مَشَاعِرِي الَّتِي تَرْجَمَتْهَا كَلِمَاتٌ مُسَافِرَةٌ، وَهَدْهَدَتْهَا أَحَاسِيسِي الَّتِي كَوَّنَتْهَا الْحُرُوفُ وَهِيَ فِي الطَّرِيقِ نَحْوَكَ.

1. Read the text and classify the verbs in the table: I have woven songs and stories from the alphabets of the world, coloring them with the fragrance of longing. My soul found them sweet, and they gathered to compose a melody I play on a basil lute. Its scent scattered like sighs, petals shedding the dew of tears, perhaps to serve as my messenger to you. What I write of you, my homeland, is not merely poems to sing, but my feelings translated by traveling words, cradled by the sensations formed by the letters as they make their way to you.

الْفِعْلُ الْمُجَرَّدُ، فِعْلٌ مَزِيدٌ بِحَرْفٍ، فِعْلٌ مَزِيدٌ بِحَرْفَيْنِ، فِعْلٌ مَزِيدٌ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْرُفٍ.

Simple verb, verb with one additional letter, verb with two additional letters, verb with three additional letters.

٢. أَسْتَخْرِجُ الْأَفْعَالَ الْوَارِدَةَ فِي الْبَيْتَيْنِ الْآتِيَيْنِ، وَأُبَيِّنُ نَوْعَهَا وَفْقَ الْمُجَرَّدِ وَالْمَزِيدِ.

2. Extract the verbs from the following two lines of poetry and identify them as simple or augmented.

زَحْزَحْ بِأَيَّةِ وَهْدَةٍ حَجَراً، وَاكْتُبْ عَلَى الْخَابُورِ أُغْنِيَةً، بِحَضَارَةٍ سَيُشَعْشِعُ الْحَجَرُ، مِنْهَا تَعَلَّمَ صَوْتَهُ الْوَتَرُ.

Shift a stone from any hollow, and write a song upon the Khabur. With civilization, the stone shall gleam; from it, the string learned its sound.

٣. أُعْرِبُ مَا وُضِعَ تَحْتَهُ خَطٌّ فِي الْبَيْتَيْنِ السَّابِقَيْنِ.

3. Parse the underlined words in the two previous lines of poetry.

٤. أَتَحَدَّثُ أَمَامَ زُمَلَائِي بِثَلَاثِ جُمَلٍ عَلَى الْأَقَلِّ عَنْ أَهَمِّيَّةِ الِانْتِمَاءِ إِلَى الْوَطَنِ، مُوَظِّفاً الْأَفْعَالَ الْمُجَرَّدَةَ وَالْمَزِيدَةَ.

4. Speak before your classmates in at least three sentences about the importance of belonging to one's homeland, using both simple and augmented verbs.

٥. أَكْتُبُ فِقْرَةً أَصِفُ بِهَا حَنِينَ مُغْتَرِبٍ إِلَى وَطَنِهِ، مُسْتَعْمِلاً الْأَفْعَالَ الْمُجَرَّدَةَ وَالْمَزِيدَةَ، بِأُسْلُوبٍ جَمِيلٍ.

5. Write a paragraph describing an expatriate's longing for their homeland, using simple and augmented verbs in a polished style.
