السِّنْدِبَادُ البَحْرِيُّ. فَغَرِقَ كُلُّ مَا مَعَنَا مِنَ الْبَضَائِعِ كَمَا غَرِقَ كَثِيرٌ مِنَ الْمُسَافِرِينَ، وَبَقِيتُ أَنَا وَجَمَاعَةٌ قَلِيلَةٌ مِنَ التُّجَّارِ سَابِحِينَ فِي الْبَحْرِ نِصْفَ نَهَارٍ، ثُمَّ ظَفِرْنَا بِلَوْحٍ مِنَ الْخَشَبِ فَرَكِبْنَاهُ، وَلَمْ يَزَلْ سَائِرًا بِنَا بَعْدَ أَنْ هَدَأَتِ الْعَاصِفَةُ وَطَابَتِ الرِّيحُ يَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً، ثُمَّ قَذَفَتْنَا الْأَمْوَاجُ إِلَى شَاطِئِ جَزِيرَةٍ وَنَحْنُ كَالْمَوْتَى مِمَّا كَابَدْنَاهُ مِنَ الْمَشَقَّةِ وَالْعَنَاءِ.
