شَكْوَى الْهِنْدِبَادِ الْحَمَّالِ. ثُمَّ عَادَ الْحَمَّالُ إِلَى مَكَانِهِ فَجَلَسَ يُفَكِّرُ فِي هَذَا النَّعِيمِ، وَكَانَ كَثِيرًا مَا يَسْمَعُ النَّاسَ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ بِمَا نَالَهُ «السِّنْدِبَادُ» مِنْ ثَرْوَةٍ طَائِلَةٍ. وَنَظَرَ الْهِنْدِبَادُ الْحَمَّالُ إِلَى جَمَالِ الْحَدِيقَةِ وَفَخَامَةِ الْقَصْرِ وَوَفْرَةِ مَا يَحْوِيهِ مِنْ غِنًى وَنِعْمَةٍ، وَرَأَى مَا هُوَ فِيهِ مِنْ بُؤْسٍ وَشَقَاءٍ، فَصَاحَ غَاضِبًا: «سُبْحَانَكَ رَبِّي تُغْنِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ، وَتُفْقِرُ مَنْ تَشَاءُ، وَتُعِزُّ مَنْ تَشَاءُ وَتُذِلُّ مَنْ تَشَاءُ، فَأَنَا أَتَحَمَّلُ الْهُمُومَ وَالْآلَامَ، وَأَقَاسِي الْمَتَاعِبَ وَالْأَهْوَالَ لِلْحُصُولِ عَلَى قُوتِي وَقُوتِ عِيَالِي، بَيْنَمَا يَنْعَمُ «السِّنْدِبَادُ» بِهَذَا الْقَصْرِ الْفَخْمِ وَمَا يَحْوِيهِ مِنْ ثَرْوَةٍ وَنَعِيمٍ، دُونَ أَنْ يَتَكَبَّدَ أَيَّ عَنَاءٍ! فَمَاذَا صَنَعَ «السِّنْدِبَادُ» حَتَّى اسْتَحَقَّ هَذِهِ النِّعْمَةَ؟ وَمَاذَا فَعَلْتُ أَنَا حَتَّى كُتِبَ عَلَيَّ هَذَا الشَّقَاءُ؟ أَأُصْبِحُ فِي تَعَبٍ دَائِمٍ أَعِيشُ شَقِيًّا وَقَدْ زَادَ حِمْلِي وَغَيْرِي سَعِيدٌ – بِلَا شِقْوَةٍ - وَمَا حَمَلَ الدَّهْرُ يَوْمًا كَحِمْلِي؟» وَبَيْنَمَا الْهِنْدِبَادُ مُسْتَغْرِقٌ فِي هَذِهِ التَّأَمُّلَاتِ إِذْ خَرَجَ مِنَ الْقَصْرِ خَادِمٌ يَدْعُوهُ إِلَى مُقَابَلَةِ سَيِّدِهِ، فَخَشِيَ الْحَمَّالُ عَاقِبَةَ الْأَمْرِ، وَأَدْرَكَ أَنَّ «السِّنْدِبَادَ» قَدْ سَمِعَ – بِلَا شَكٍّ – كُلَّ مَا.

- The porter returned to his spot and sat, reflecting on such luxury.
- وَكَانَ كَثِيرًا مَا يَسْمَعُ النَّاسَ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ بِمَا نَالَهُ «السِّنْدِبَادُ» مِنْ ثَرْوَةٍ طَائِلَةٍ.
- He had often heard people speak of the vast fortune Sindbad had amassed.
- وَنَظَرَ الْهِنْدِبَادُ الْحَمَّالُ إِلَى جَمَالِ الْحَدِيقَةِ وَفَخَامَةِ الْقَصْرِ وَوَفْرَةِ مَا يَحْوِيهِ مِنْ غِنًى وَنِعْمَةٍ.
- Hindbad looked at the beauty of the garden, the grandeur of the palace, and the sheer abundance of wealth within.
- وَرَأَى مَا هُوَ فِيهِ مِنْ بُؤْسٍ وَشَقَاءٍ.
- He then looked at his own state of misery and hardship.
- فَصَاحَ غَاضِبًا: «سُبْحَانَكَ رَبِّي تُغْنِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ، وَتُفْقِرُ مَنْ تَشَاءُ، وَتُعِزُّ مَنْ تَشَاءُ وَتُذِلُّ مَنْ تَشَاءُ».
- He cried out in anger, 'Glory to You, my Lord! You enrich whom You will and impoverish whom You will; You honor whom You will and humble whom You will.'
- فَأَنَا أَتَحَمَّلُ الْهُمُومَ وَالْآلَامَ، وَأَقَاسِي الْمَتَاعِبَ وَالْأَهْوَالَ لِلْحُصُولِ عَلَى قُوتِي وَقُوتِ عِيَالِي.
- I bear endless burdens and pain, suffering through toil and terror just to put bread on the table for my family.
- بَيْنَمَا يَنْعَمُ «السِّنْدِبَادُ» بِهَذَا الْقَصْرِ الْفَخْمِ وَمَا يَحْوِيهِ مِنْ ثَرْوَةٍ وَنَعِيمٍ، دُونَ أَنْ يَتَكَبَّدَ أَيَّ عَنَاءٍ!

- أَأُصْبِحُ فِي تَعَبٍ دَائِمٍ أَعِيشُ شَقِيًّا وَقَدْ زَادَ حِمْلِي وَغَيْرِي سَعِيدٌ – بِلَا شِقْوَةٍ - وَمَا حَمَلَ الدَّهْرُ يَوْمًا كَحِمْلِي؟»
- Must I live in constant exhaustion, my burden growing heavier while others live in comfort, free from such hardship? Never has the world seen a burden as heavy as mine.
- وَبَيْنَمَا الْهِنْدِبَادُ مُسْتَغْرِقٌ فِي هَذِهِ التَّأَمُّلَاتِ إِذْ خَرَجَ مِنَ الْقَصْرِ خَادِمٌ يَدْعُوهُ إِلَى مُقَابَلَةِ سَيِّدِهِ.
- As Hindbad was lost in these thoughts, a servant emerged from the palace to summon him to his master.
