بَابُ تَحْرِيمِ سَمَاعِ الْغِيبَةِ وَأَمْرِ مَنْ سَمِعَ غِيبَةً مُحَرَّمَةً بِرَدِّهَا وَالْإِنْكَارِ عَلَى قَائِلِهَا. اتَّقِ اللَّهَ، خَفِ اللَّهَ، وَإِمَّا بِالنَّصِيحَةِ الْمُؤَثِّرَةِ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ فَإِنَّهُ يَقُومُ وَيَتْرُكُ الْمَكَانَ؛ لِأَنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ إِذَا جَلَسَ فِي مَجْلِسٍ يَعْتَابُ فِيهِ الْجَالِسُونَ أَهْلَ الْخَيْرِ وَالصَّلَاحِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَجِبُ عَلَيْهِ أَوَّلًا أَنْ يُدَافِعَ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَعَلَيْهِ أَنْ يُغَادِرَ وَإِلَّا كَانَ شَرِيكًا لَهُمْ فِي الْإِثْمِ. وَاللَّهُ الْمُوَفِّقُ.

Chapter on the prohibition of listening to backbiting and the obligation for anyone who hears it to refute the speaker and condemn their words.
اتَّقِ اللَّهَ، خَفِ اللَّهَ، وَإِمَّا بِالنَّصِيحَةِ الْمُؤَثِّرَةِ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ فَإِنَّهُ يَقُومُ وَيَتْرُكُ الْمَكَانَ؛
Fear Allah, fear Allah, and offer sincere, impactful advice. If the speaker does not desist, you must stand up and leave.
لِأَنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ إِذَا جَلَسَ فِي مَجْلِسٍ يَعْتَابُ فِيهِ الْجَالِسُونَ أَهْلَ الْخَيْرِ وَالصَّلَاحِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَجِبُ عَلَيْهِ أَوَّلًا أَنْ يُدَافِعَ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَعَلَيْهِ أَنْ يُغَادِرَ وَإِلَّا كَانَ شَرِيكًا لَهُمْ فِي الْإِثْمِ.
When a person sits in a gathering where others are backbiting righteous and virtuous people, they are first obligated to defend them. If they are unable to do so, they must leave; otherwise, they share in the sin.
