The tenth nullifier.

وَقَالَ: «فَالطُّرُقُ - بِحَمْدِ اللَّهِ - الْيَوْمَ مُيَسَّرَةٌ وَكَثِيرَةٌ، وَإِنَّمَا الْمُصِيبَةُ ضَعْفُ الطَّالِبِ وَقِلَّةُ نَشَاطِهِ وَإِعْرَاضُهُ وَغَفْلَتُهُ، هَذِهِ هِيَ الْمُصِيبَةُ الْعُظْمَى.

He said: 'The paths, praise be to Allah, are easy and numerous today, and the only calamity is the weakness of the student, his lack of diligence, his turning away, and his heedlessness; this is the greatest calamity.'

وَقَالَ: «فَمَنْ رُزِقَ الْفِقْهَ فِي الدِّينِ... فَذَلِكَ هُوَ الدَّلِيلُ وَالْعَلَامَةُ عَلَى أَنَّ اللَّهَ أَرَادَ بِهِ خَيْرًا، وَمَنْ حُرِمَ ذَلِكَ وَصَارَ مَعَ الْجَهَلَةِ وَالضَّالِّينَ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ الْمُعْرِضِينَ عَنِ الْفِقْهِ فِي الدِّينِ وَعَنْ تَعَلُّمِ مَا أَوْجَبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَنِ الْبَصِيرَةِ فِيمَا حُرِمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فَذَلِكَ مِنَ الدَّلَائِلِ عَلَى أَنَّ اللَّهَ لَمْ يُرِدْ بِهِ خَيْرًا، وَقَدْ وَصَفَ اللَّهُ الْكُفَّارَ بِالْإِعْرَاضِ عَمَّا خُلِقُوا لَهُ وَعَمَّا أُنْذِرُوا بِهِ؛ تَنْبِيهًا لَنَا عَلَى أَنَّ الْوَاجِبَ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ أَنْ يُقْبِلَ عَلَى دِينِ اللَّهِ وَأَنْ يَتَفَقَّهَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ وَأَنْ يَسْأَلَ عَمَّا أَشْكَلَ عَلَيْهِ وَأَنْ يَتَبَصَّرَ، قَالَ: ﴿وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا عَمَّا أُنذِرُوا مُعْرِضُونَ﴾، وَقَالَ - سُبْحَانَهُ -: ﴿وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن ذُكِرَ بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهَا وَنَسِيَ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ﴾، فَمَنْ شَأْنُ الْمُؤْمِنِ طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ وَالتَّفَقُّهُ فِي الدِّينِ وَالتَّبَصُّرُ وَالْعِنَايَةُ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَالْإِقْبَالُ عَلَيْهِ وَتَدَبُّرُهُ وَالِاسْتِفَادَةُ مِنْهُ وَالْعِنَايَةُ بِسُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَالتَّفَقُّهُ فِيهَا وَالْعَمَلُ بِهَا وَحِفْظُ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهَا فَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْ هَذَيْنِ الْأَصْلَيْنِ فَذَلِكَ دَلِيلٌ وَعَلَامَةٌ عَلَى أَنَّ اللَّهَ سُبْحَانَهُ لَمْ يُرِدْ بِهِ خَيْرًا، وَذَلِكَ عَلَامَةُ الْهَلَاكِ وَالدَّمَارِ، وَعَلَامَةُ فَسَادِ الْقَلْبِ وَإِعْرَاضِهِ عَنِ الْهُدَى.

He said: 'Whoever is granted understanding of the religion... that is the proof and sign that Allah intends good for him, and whoever is deprived of that and becomes among the ignorant and those astray from the path, who turn away from understanding the religion, from learning what Allah has made obligatory upon them, and from insight into what Allah has forbidden them, then that is among the signs that Allah does not intend good for him. Allah has described the disbelievers as turning away from what they were created for and what they were warned about, as a reminder to us that it is incumbent upon the Muslim to turn toward the religion of Allah, to seek understanding in the religion of Allah, to ask about what is unclear to him, and to seek insight.' He said: 'But those who disbelieve, from that whereof they are warned, are turning away' (Al-Ahqaf: 3), and He, the Glorified, said: 'And who does more wrong than he who is reminded of the verses of his Lord; then he turns away from them and forgets what his hands have put forth' (Al-Kahf: 57). It is the way of the believer to seek knowledge, to understand the religion, to seek insight, to care for the Book of Allah, to turn toward it, to contemplate it, to benefit from it, to care for the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, to understand it, to act upon it, and to memorize what is easy of it. So whoever turns away from these two foundations, that is a proof and sign that Allah, the Glorified, does not intend good for him, and that is a sign of ruin and destruction, and a sign of the corruption of the heart and its turning away from guidance.'
