- The Fifth Principle: Allah, Glorified be He, explains who the allies (Awliya) of Allah are and distinguishes between them and those who imitate them from among the enemies of Allah, the hypocrites and the wicked; for this, a verse from Surah Al-Imran suffices, which is His saying: 'Say, if you love Allah, then follow me, and Allah will love you,' as well as a verse in Surah Al-Ma'idah, which is His saying: 'O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion - Allah will bring forth a people He will love and who will love Him,' and a verse in Yunus, which is His saying: 'Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. Those who believed and were fearing Allah.'
- Then, the matter reached the point where most of those who claim knowledge and to be among the guides of creation and the guardians of the Sharia believe that for the allies, it is necessary to abandon following the Messengers, and whoever follows them is not one of them; and it is necessary to abandon Jihad, so whoever engages in Jihad is not one of them; and it is necessary to abandon faith and piety, so whoever commits to faith and piety is not one of them; O our Lord, we ask You for pardon and well-being, for You are the Hearer of supplication.
- Explanation: The allies of Allah Almighty are those who believed in Him, feared Him, and remained steadfast upon His religion, and they are those whom Allah Almighty described with His saying: 'Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. Those who believed and were fearing Allah,' so not everyone who is claimed to have sainthood (Wilayah) is one.
