Introduction: Ibn Jarir said in his history: There is no disagreement among the scholars of the reports of the past and the affairs of those who preceded us from our nation and others that the one who was in charge of the affairs of the Children of Israel after Joshua was Caleb son of Jephunneh, meaning one of the companions of Moses, peace be upon him, and he was the husband of his sister Miriam, and he was one of the two men who feared God, namely Joshua and Caleb, and they are the two who said to the Children of Israel when they refused to engage in jihad: 'Enter upon them through the gate, for if you enter it, you will be victorious, and put your trust in God if you are believers.'
Ibn Jarir said: Then after him, the one who was in charge of the affairs of the Children of Israel was Ezekiel son of Buzi, and he is the one who called upon God, so He brought to life those who had left their homes by the thousands for fear of death.
In all the copies that have come into our hands, the title of this chapter was: 'Mention of a group of the prophets of the Children of Israel, peace be upon them, whose specific time is not known, except that they were after David, peace be upon him, and before Zechariah and John, peace be upon them both.'
