يُتَوَقَّعُ مِنَ الطَّلَبَةِ بَعْدَ الانْتِهَاءِ مِنَ الْجُزْءِ الْأَوَّلِ مِنْ هَذَا الْكِتَابِ، وَالتَّفَاعُلِ مَعَ الْأَنْشِطَةِ، أَنْ يَكُونُوا قَادِرِينَ عَلَى تَوْظِيفِ الْمَهَارَاتِ الْأَرْبَعِ (الِاسْتِمَاعُ، وَالْقِرَاءَةُ، وَالْكِتَابَةُ، وَالْمُحَادَثَةُ)، فِي الِاتِّصَالِ وَالتَّوَاصُلِ مِنْ خِلَالِ:

Upon completing the first part of this book and engaging with its activities, students are expected to be able to apply the four skills—listening, reading, writing, and speaking—to communicate by:

الِاسْتِمَاعِ بِتَفَاعُلٍ مَعَ الِاحْتِفَاظِ بِأَكْبَرِ قَدْرٍ مِنَ الْحَقَائِقِ وَالْمَفَاهِيمِ.

Listening actively while retaining as many facts and concepts as possible.

التَّعَرُّفِ إِلَى نُبْذَةٍ عَنِ النُّصُوصِ، وَمُؤَلِّفِيهَا.

Learning brief background information about the texts and their authors.

قِرَاءَةِ النُّصُوصِ قِرَاءَةً صَامِتَةً.

Reading texts silently.

اسْتِنْتَاجِ الْأَفْكَارِ الرَّئِيسَةِ فِيهَا.

Identifying the main ideas within the texts.

قِرَاءَةِ النُّصُوصِ قِرَاءَةً جَهْرِيَّةً صَحِيحَةً مُعَبِّرَةً.

Reading texts aloud with correct pronunciation and expression.

اسْتِنْتَاجِ الْأَفْكَارِ الْفَرْعِيَّةِ لِلنُّصُوصِ وَالْقَصَائِدِ.

Identifying the supporting ideas in the texts and poems.

تَوْضِيحِ مَعَانِي الْمُفْرَدَاتِ، وَالتَّرَاكِيبِ الْجَدِيدَةِ.

Explaining the meanings of new vocabulary and sentence structures.

اسْتِنْتَاجِ الْعَوَاطِفِ الْوَارِدَةِ فِي النُّصُوصِ الشِّعْرِيَّةِ.

Inferring the emotions expressed in poetic texts.

حِفْظِ سِتَّةِ أَبْيَاتٍ مِنْ كُلِّ قَصِيدَةٍ عَمُودِيَّةٍ، وَثَمَانِيَةِ أَسْطُرٍ مِنْ كُلِّ قَصِيدَةٍ مِنَ الشِّعْرِ الْحُرِّ.

Memorizing six verses from each classical poem and eight lines from each free-verse poem.
