الكَلِمَةُ مِفْتَاحُ القُلوبِ.

Words are the key to the heart.

الكَلِمَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ هِيَ السِّرُّ في نَجَاحِ العَلَاقَاتِ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، وَاسْتِمْرَارِهَا، وَأَقْصَرُ الطُّرُقِ لِلْوُصُولِ إِلَى الغَايَاتِ السَّامِيَةِ.

A kind word is the secret to successful human relationships and their longevity, and it is the shortest path to achieving noble goals.

وَلَهَا آثَارٌ إِيجَابِيَّةٌ؛ إِذْ تُدَاوِي القُلُوبَ، وَتَشْحَدُ الهِمَمَ، وَتَشْرَحُ الصُّدُورَ، وَتُقَوِّي العَزَائِمَ، وَتَمْنَحُ الوُجُوهَ إِشْرَاقاً، وَالأَجْسَامَ شَبَاباً، وَحَيَوِيَّةً.

It has positive effects: it heals the heart, inspires ambition, lifts the spirit, strengthens resolve, and brings radiance to the face and vitality to the body.

وَالآيَاتُ الَّتِي بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا تُبَيِّنُ الفَرْقَ بَيْنَ أَهْلِ الإِيمَانِ وَأَهْلِ الكُفْرِ، وَتَصِفُ أَحْوَالَهُمْ، وَتَتَحَدَّثُ عَنْ نِعَمِ اللهِ الدَّالَّةِ عَلَى وُجُودِهِ، وَقُدْرَتِهِ، وَوَحْدَانِيَّتِهِ، وَدَعَوَاتِ سَيِّدِنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ - عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ - الَّتِي تُعَبِّرُ عَنْ وَحْدَةِ الرِّسَالَةِ.

The verses before us clarify the difference between those who believe and those who disbelieve, describing their conditions and speaking of God’s blessings as evidence of His existence, power, and oneness, as well as the prayers of our master Abraham—peace be upon him—which reflect the unity of the message.

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ ضَرَبَ اللهُ مَثَلًا كَلِمَةً طَيِّبَةً كَشَجَرَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ أَصْلُهَا ثَابِتٌ وَفَرْعُهَا فِي السَّمَاءِ.

Do you not see how God provides an example: a good word is like a good tree, firmly rooted with branches reaching toward the sky?

تُؤْتِي أُكُلَهَا كُلَّ حِينٍ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهَا وَيَضْرِبُ اللهُ الْأَمْثَالَ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ.

It yields its fruit in every season by the permission of its Lord, and God provides such examples for people so that they may take heed.

وَمَثَلُ كَلِمَةٍ خَبِيثَةٍ كَشَجَرَةٍ خَبِيثَةٍ اجْتُثَّتْ مِن فَوْقِ الْأَرْضِ مَا لَهَا مِن قَرَارٍ.

The example of a foul word is like a foul tree, uprooted from the earth, having no stability.

يُثَبِّتُ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا بِالْقَوْلِ الثَّابِتِ فِي الْحَيَوةِ الدُّنْيَا وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ وَيُضِلُّ اللَّهُ الظَّالِمِينَ وَيَفْعَلُ اللهُ مَا يَشَاءُ.

God strengthens those who believe with a firm word in this life and in the Hereafter, while He lets the wrongdoers go astray; God does whatever He wills.

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ بَدَّلُوا نِعْمَتَ اللهِ كُفْرًا وَأَحَلُّوا قَوْمَهُمْ دَارَ الْبَوَارِ.

Do you not see those who exchanged God’s favor for disbelief and led their people into the house of ruin?

جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَوْنَهَا وَبِئْسَ الْقَرَارُ.

They will burn in Hell, and what a wretched place to settle.

وَجَعَلُوا لِلَّهِ أَندَادًا لِيُضِلُّوا عَن سَبِيلِهِ قُلْ تَمَتَّعُوا فَإِنَّ مَصِيرَكُمْ إِلَى النَّارِ.

They have set up rivals to God to lead others away from His path; tell them, "Enjoy yourselves, for your destination is the Fire."

قُل لِعِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يُقِيمُوا الصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُنفِقُواْ مِمَّا رَزَقْنَهُمْ سِرًّا وَعَلَانِيَةً مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَ يَوْمٌ لَّا بَيْعٌ فِيهِ وَلَا خِلَالٌ.

Tell My servants who believe to establish prayer and spend from what We have provided them, both secretly and openly, before a Day comes when there will be no bargaining and no friendship.
