يَجِبُ أَنْ تَشْتَمِلَ جُمْلَةُ الْخَبَرِ عَلَى ضَمِيرٍ يَرْبِطُهَا بِالْمُبْتَدَإِ.

The predicate sentence must contain a pronoun that connects it to the subject.

تَمْرِينٌ (١) عَيِّنْ فِي الْعِبَارَاتِ الْآتِيَةِ خَبَرَ كُلِّ مُبْتَدَإٍ وَاذْكُرْ نَوْعَهُ:

Exercise (1): Identify the predicate of each subject in the following phrases and state its type:

الذُّبَابَةُ مِنَ الْحَشَرَاتِ الْمُؤْذِيَةِ، وَضَرَرُهَا فَوْقَ كُلِّ ضَرَرٍ، وَأَرْجُلُهَا تَحْمِلُ الْجَرَاثِيمَ مِنَ الْمَرْضَى إِلَى الْأَصِحَّاءِ، وَالرَّمَدُ الْحُبَيْبِيُّ مُنْتَشِرٌ بِمِصْرَ، لِعَدَمِ عِنَايَةِ الْأَطْفَالِ بِطَرْدِ الذُّبَابِ عَنْ أَعْيُنِهِمْ، فَنَظَافَةُ الْجِسْمِ فَائِدَتُهَا عَظِيمَةٌ؛ لِمَنْعِ سُقُوطِ الذُّبَابِ عَلَى الْوَجْهِ وَالْعَيْنَيْنِ.

The fly is among the harmful insects, its damage is above all damage, its legs carry germs from the sick to the healthy, and granular conjunctivitis is widespread in Egypt due to children's lack of care in shooing flies away from their eyes; therefore, bodily cleanliness is of great benefit in preventing flies from landing on the face and eyes.

وَالْوِقَايَةُ مِنْهُ فِي الْمَنَازِلِ عِمَادُهَا تَغْطِيَةُ الْمَطْعُومَاتِ وَالْمَشْرُوبَاتِ.

And protection from it in homes relies primarily on covering food and drinks.

تَمْرِينٌ (٢) اجْعَلْ كُلَّ جُمْلَةٍ مِنَ الْجُمَلِ الْآتِيَةِ خَبَرًا لِمُبْتَدَإٍ يُنَاسِبُهَا:

Exercise (2): Make each of the following sentences a predicate for a suitable subject:

يَسْبَحُ فِي الْمَاءِ

(1) Swims in the water

(٢) تُغَنِّيَانِ

(2) You (two females) sing

يُرَفْرِفُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ

(3) Flaps its wings

يَبْنُونَ الْمَنَازِلَ

(4) They build houses

يَثِبُ عَلَى الْفَرِيسَةِ

(5) Leaps onto the prey

يُدَافِعُونَ عَنْ أَوْطَانِهِمْ

(6) They defend their homelands

يَجُرَّانِ الْعَجَلَةَ

(7) They (two males) pull the cart

يَقْتَصِدَانِ فِي النَّفَقَاتِ

(8) They (two males) are economical with expenses

يَتَحَرَّكَانِ عِنْدَ الْمَضْغِ

(9) They (two) move during chewing

يَتَبَاعَدُونَ عَنِ الرَّذِيلَةِ

(10) They distance themselves from vice

تُدْخِلَانِ النُّورَ وَالْهَوَاءَ

(11) You (two) let in light and air

يُحِبُّهَا أَبُوهَا
