تَوَدُّدُ الْمُحْتَاجِ. جُحَا وَالْبُخَلَاءُ. ابْتَدَرْتُهُ بِالتَّحِيَّةِ حِينَ الْتَقَتْ أَعْيُنُنَا رَدَّ التَّحِيَّةَ فِي تَرَاخٍ وَفُتُورٍ. لَمْ يَحْتَفِلْ بِي، وَلَمْ يَلْتَفِتْ إِلَيَّ. أَقْبَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ لِشِدَّةِ حَاجَتِي إِلَى طَعَامِهِ وَشَرَابِهِ. تَوَدَّدْتُ إِلَيْهِ. تَكَلَّفْتُ إِظْهَارَ الشَّوْقِ لَهُ، وَالْفَرَحِ بِلِقَائِهِ. كُنْتُ أَظُنُّ - وَمَا أَكْذَبَ الظَّنَّ فِي بَعْضِ الْأَحْيَانِ – أَنَّهُ سَيَدْعُونِي إِلَى مُشَارَكَتِهِ فِي طَعَامِهِ، وَلَيْسَ مَعِي طَعَامٌ فِي ذَلِكَ الْمَكَانِ الْمُوحِشِ الْقَفْرِ. الْخَالِي مِنَ النَّاسِ. الْخَالِي مِنَ الْمَاءِ وَالنَّبَاتِ.
