بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ.

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

حَمْدًا لِمَنْ خَصَّ سَيِّدَ الرُّسُلِ بِكَمَالِ الْفَصَاحَةِ بَيْنَ الْبَدْوِ وَالْحَضَرِ

Praise be to Him who graced the Master of Messengers with perfect eloquence, both among the desert dwellers and the city folk.

وَأَنْطَقَهُ بِجَوَامِعِ الْكَلِمِ فَأَعْجَزَ بُلَغَاءَ رَبِيعَةَ وَمُضَرَ،

He endowed him with the gift of concise speech, leaving the masters of rhetoric among the tribes of Rabi'ah and Mudar speechless.

وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْكِتَابَ الْمُفْحِمَ بِتَحَدِّيَةِ مَصَاقِعِ بُلَغَاءِ الْأَعْرَابِ،

He revealed to him the Book, which silences the most formidable orators of the Arabs with its challenge.

وَآتَاهُ بِحِكْمَتِهِ أَسْرَارَ الْبَلَاغَةِ وَفَصْلَ الْخِطَابِ،

Through His wisdom, He granted him the secrets of rhetoric and the power of decisive speech.

وَمَنَحَهُ الْأُسْلُوبَ الْحَكِيمَ فِي جَوَامِعِ كَلِمِهِ وَخَصَّ السَّعَادَةَ الْأَبَدِيَّةَ لِمُقْتَفَى آثَارِهِ وَحِكَمِهِ،

He bestowed upon him a wise style in his succinct utterances and reserved eternal happiness for those who follow in his footsteps and heed his wisdom.

صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ جَوَاهِرَ الْبَلَاغَةِ الَّذِينَ نَظَمُوا لآلِئَ الْبَدِيعِ فِي عُقُودِ الْإِيجَازِ وَالْإِطْنَابِ.

May Allah bless him, his family, and his companions—those gems of eloquence who strung the pearls of originality into necklaces of both brevity and elaboration.

فَقَهْنَا بَعْدَ اللُّكْنِ بِجَوَاهِرِ الْأَعْرَابِ وَنَطَقْنَا بِمِيزَانِ الذَّهَبِ وَطَرَّزْنَا سُطُورَ الطُّرُوسِ بِجَوَاهِرِ الْأَدَبِ فَصَارَتِ الْمُفْرَدَ الْعَلَمَ فِي بَابِ النَّسَبِ.

We attained understanding after our ignorance through these gems of Arabic, spoke with the golden scale of precision, and embroidered our pages with the jewels of literature, until this work became a singular landmark in its field.

فَإِنَّ الْعُلُومَ أَرْفَعُ الْمَطَالِبِ، وَأَنْفَعُ الْمَآرِبِ وَعِلْمُ الْبَلَاغَةِ مِنْ بَيْنِهَا أَجَلُّهَا شَأْنًا، وَأَبْيَنُهَا تِبْيَانًا،

Knowledge is the highest of pursuits and the most beneficial of goals, and among these, the science of rhetoric holds the most majestic status and offers the clearest exposition.

إِذْ هُوَ الْكَفِيلُ بِإِيضَاحِ حَقَائِقِ التَّنْزِيلِ، وَإِفْصَاحِ دَقَائِقِ التَّأْوِيلِ.

It is the key to clarifying the truths of the Revelation and unveiling the subtleties of its interpretation.

وَإِظْهَارِ دَلَائِلِ الْإِعْجَازِ وَرَفْعِ مَعَالِمِ الْإِيجَازِ،

It reveals the signs of divine inimitability and highlights the hallmarks of concise expression.

وَلِاشْتِغَالِي بِتَدْرِيسِ الْبَيَانِ بِالْمَدَارِسِ الثَّانَوِيَّةِ، كَانَتِ الْبَوَاعِثُ دَاعِيَةً إِلَى تَأْلِيفِ كِتَابِ جَوَاهِرِ الْبَلَاغَةِ جَامِعًا لِلْمُهِمَّاتِ مِنَ الْقَوَاعِدِ وَالتَّطْبِيقَاتِ

My work teaching rhetoric in secondary schools inspired me to compile 'Jewels of Rhetoric,' a book gathering the essential rules and practical applications of the craft.

وَأَسْأَلُ الْمَوْلَى جَلَّ شَأْنُهُ أَنْ يَنْفَعَ بِهَذَا الْكِتَابِ وَهُوَ الْمُوَفِّقُ لِلْحَقِّ وَالصَّوَابِ.

I pray to the Almighty that this book proves beneficial, for He is the Guide to truth and correctness.
