مُقَدِّمَةٌ فِي مَعْرِفَةِ الْفَصَاحَةِ وَالْبَلَاغَةِ. الْأَمْثَالُ وَاخْتِيَارُ الْكَلِمَاتِ الْجَزْلَةِ ذَاتِ الرَّنِينِ، وَيَحْسُنُ فِيهِ أَنْ تَتَعَاقَبَ ضُرُوبُ التَّعْبِيرِ مِنْ إِخْبَارٍ إِلَى اسْتِفْهَامٍ إِلَى تَعَجُّبٍ إِلَى اسْتِنْكَارٍ، وَأَنْ تَكُونَ مَوَاطِنُ الْوَقْفِ كَافِيَةً شَافِيَةً، ثُمَّ وَاضِحًا قَوِيًّا، وَيَظُنُّ النَّاشِئُونَ فِي صِنَاعَةِ الْأَدَبِ أَنَّهُ كُلَّمَا كَثُرَ الْمَجَازُ، وَكَثُرَتِ التَّشْبِيهَاتُ وَالْأَخْيِلَةُ فِي هَذَا الْأُسْلُوبِ زَادَ حُسْنُهُ، وَهَذَا خَطَأٌ بَيِّنٌ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَذْهَبُ بِجَمَالِ هَذَا الْأُسْلُوبِ أَكْثَرُ مِنَ التَّكَلُّفِ، وَلَا يُفْسِدُهُ شَرٌّ مِنْ تَعَمُّدِ الصِّنَاعَةِ.
