شَدَائِدُ وَأَزَمَاتٌ لِلتِّجَارَةِ وَالْحَجِّ. فَيُسْرِعُ أَعْدَاءُ الرَّسُولِ إِلَيْهِمْ لِيُحَذِّرُوهُمْ مِنْهُ. فَكَأَنَّمَا كَانُوا يُغْرُونَهُمْ بِلِقَائِهِ، وَالتَّحَدُّثِ إِلَيْهِ! كَأَنَّمَا كَانُوا يَدْفَعُونَهُمْ إِلَى هَدْيِ الرَّسُولِ ﷺ دَفْعًا! فَيُقْبِلُ عَلَيْهِ مَنْ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ الْفَلَاحَ. طَالَمَا أَشَاعُوا عَنْهُ أَلْوَانًا مِنَ الْأَكَاذِيبِ وَالْمُفْتَرَيَاتِ! وَطَالَمَا قَذَفُوهُ بِفُنُونٍ مِنَ النُّهَمِ الْكَاذِبَاتِ! كَانُوا يَعِيبُونَهُ بِمَا فِيهِمْ مِنْ نَقَائِصَ وَمُخْزِيَاتٍ! لَمْ يَتَوَرَّعُوا عَنِ اتِّهَامِهِ بِالْإِفْكِ! وَالْجُنُونِ! وَهُمْ أَعْرَفُ النَّاسِ بِصِدْقِهِ، وَرَجَاحَةِ عَقْلِهِ. لَا عَجَبَ أَنْ يَرْمِيَ الْمُفْتَرُونَ أَعْدَاءَهُمْ بِمَا فِيهِمْ. كُلُّ إِنَاءٍ يَنْضَحُ بِمَا فِيهِ. الْأَرَضَةُ تَأْكُلُ الْوَثِيقَةَ وَمَرَّتْ عَلَى وَثِيقَتِهِمْ ثَلَاثَةُ أَعْوَامٍ، حَتَّى أَكَلَتْهَا الْأَرَضَةُ. أَيَّةَ وَثِيقَةٍ تَعْنِي؟ الْوَثِيقَةَ الَّتِي عَقَدُوا فِيهَا تَحَالُفَهُمْ. فَلَمَّا أَخْبَرَهُمُ الرَّسُولُ بِذَلِكَ حَسِبُوهُ يَتَهَكَّمُ بِهِمْ. أَخْبَرَهُمُ الرَّسُولُ ﷺ بِمَاذَا؟ أَنَّ الْأَرَضَةَ أَكَلَتْ وَثِيقَتَهُمْ. وَلَكِنَّهُمْ أَلِفُوا الصِّدْقَ فِي قَوْلِهِ دَائِمًا. فَأَسْرَعُوا إِلَى وَثِيقَتِهِمْ. فَرَأَوْهَا مُخَرَّقَةً! بَالِيَةٌ مُمَزَّقَةٌ!

- شَدَائِدُ وَأَزَمَاتٌ لِلتِّجَارَةِ وَالْحَجِّ.
- Hardships and crises plagued trade and pilgrimage.
- فَيُسْرِعُ أَعْدَاءُ الرَّسُولِ إِلَيْهِمْ لِيُحَذِّرُوهُمْ مِنْهُ.
- The Messenger's enemies would rush to warn travelers about him.
- فَكَأَنَّمَا كَانُوا يُغْرُونَهُمْ بِلِقَائِهِ، وَالتَّحَدُّثِ إِلَيْهِ!
- It was as if they were enticing them to meet him and hear him speak!
- كَأَنَّمَا كَانُوا يَدْفَعُونَهُمْ إِلَى هَدْيِ الرَّسُولِ ﷺ دَفْعًا!
- It was as if they were driving them straight toward the Messenger's guidance!
- فَيُقْبِلُ عَلَيْهِ مَنْ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ الْفَلَاحَ.
- Those for whom Allah had decreed success would then turn to him.
- طَالَمَا أَشَاعُوا عَنْهُ أَلْوَانًا مِنَ الْأَكَاذِيبِ وَالْمُفْتَرَيَاتِ!
- How often they spread all manner of lies and slanders about him!
- وَطَالَمَا قَذَفُوهُ بِفُنُونٍ مِنَ النُّهَمِ الْكَاذِبَاتِ!
- How often they leveled various false accusations against him!
- كَانُوا يَعِيبُونَهُ بِمَا فِيهِمْ مِنْ نَقَائِصَ وَمُخْزِيَاتٍ!
- They projected their own flaws and shameful traits onto him.
- لَمْ يَتَوَرَّعُوا عَنِ اتِّهَامِهِ بِالْإِفْكِ وَالْجُنُونِ!
- They did not hesitate to accuse him of falsehood and madness.
- وَهُمْ أَعْرَفُ النَّاسِ بِصِدْقِهِ، وَرَجَاحَةِ عَقْلِهِ.
- Yet they were the very people who knew his truthfulness and sound judgment best.
- لَا عَجَبَ أَنْ يَرْمِيَ الْمُفْتَرُونَ أَعْدَاءَهُمْ بِمَا فِيهِمْ.
- It is no surprise that slanderers accuse their enemies of their own vices.
- كُلُّ إِنَاءٍ يَنْضَحُ بِمَا فِيهِ.
- A vessel can only pour out what it contains.
- الْأَرَضَةُ تَأْكُلُ الْوَثِيقَةَ.
- The termites devoured the document.
- وَمَرَّتْ عَلَى وَثِيقَتِهِمْ ثَلَاثَةُ أَعْوَامٍ، حَتَّى أَكَلَتْهَا الْأَرَضَةُ.
- Three years passed, and termites finally consumed their document.
- أَيَّةَ وَثِيقَةٍ تَعْنِي؟
- Which document do you mean?
- الْوَثِيقَةَ الَّتِي عَقَدُوا فِيهَا تَحَالُفَهُمْ.
- The document recording their alliance.
- فَلَمَّا أَخْبَرَهُمُ الرَّسُولُ بِذَلِكَ حَسِبُوهُ يَتَهَكَّمُ بِهِمْ.
- When the Messenger told them this, they thought he was mocking them.
- أَخْبَرَهُمُ الرَّسُولُ ﷺ بِمَاذَا؟
- What did the Messenger (PBUH) tell them?
- أَنَّ الْأَرَضَةَ أَكَلَتْ وَثِيقَتَهُمْ.
- That termites had eaten their document.
- وَلَكِنَّهُمْ أَلِفُوا الصِّدْقَ فِي قَوْلِهِ دَائِمًا.
- But they were always accustomed to the truth in his words.
- فَأَسْرَعُوا إِلَى وَثِيقَتِهِمْ.
- They hurried to check the document.
- فَرَأَوْهَا مُخَرَّقَةً! بَالِيَةٌ مُمَزَّقَةٌ!
- They found it riddled with holes—worn out and shredded!
