شَدَائِدُ وَأَزَمَاتٌ. فَلَمَّا انْهَدَمَ الرُّكْنَان! كَادَ يَنْهَارُ الْبُنْيَانُ. وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ سَلَّمَ. لَقَدْ أَبْقَى اللَّهُ مِنْ حُمَاتِهِ حَمْزَةَ. وَعُمَرَ وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ وَغَيْرَهُمْ مِنْ أَفْدَانِ الرِّجَالِ. وَلَمْ يَكُنْ عَمُّهُ الْعَبَّاسُ لِيُسْلِمَهُ إِلَى أَعْدَائِهِ، عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ. لَكَأَنَّمَا كَانَ عَمُّهُ أَبُو طَالِبٍ يَقْرَأُ مِنْ صَفَحَاتِ الْغَيْبِ، حِينَ تَوَقَّعَ لِابْنِ أَخِيهِ مَا لَقِيَهُ مِنْ فَوْزِ بَاهِرٍ، وَفَتْحٍ عَظِيمٍ لَا يَعْرِفُ لَهُ تَارِيخُ الْعَالَمِ كُلِّهِ مَثِيلًا. تَعْنِي كَلِمَتَهُ الْخَالِدَةَ الَّتِي قَالَهَا وَهُوَ يُحْتَضَرُ؟ مَا عَنَيْتُ غَيْرَهَا. قَالَهَا وَهُوَ يُحْتَضَرُ؟ قَالَهَا وَهُوَ عَلَى فِرَاشِ الْمَوْتِ. وَهُوَ يُوَدِّعُ الدُّنْيَا وَدَاعَهُ الْأَخِيرَ. لَكَأَنَّ رُوحَهُ قَدْ كَشَفَتْ أَسْتَارَ الْغَيْبِ، وَاسْتَشَفَّتْ أَسْرَارَهُ، فَتَجَلَّى لِبَصِيرَتِهِ نُورُ الْحَقِيقَةِ الْبَاقِيَةِ، وَهُوَ يُفَارِقُ الْحَيَاةَ الْفَانِيَةَ. وَلِلنَّفْسِ حَالَاتٌ تُرِيهَا كَأَنَّهَا سَتَشْهَدُ فِيهَا كُلَّ غَيْبٍ، سَتَشْهَدُ! أَبُو طَالِبٍ عَلَى فِرَاشِ الْمَوْتِ. مَاذَا قَالَ عَمُّهُ؟ قَالَ وَكَأَنَّمَا يُنَاجِي نَفْسَهُ: وَايْمُ الْحَقِّ، كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى صَعَالِيكِ الْعَرَبِ وَأَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ، وَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ النَّاسِ قَدْ أَجَابُوا دَعْوَتَهُ، وَصَدَّقُوا كَلِمَتَهُ، وَعَظَمُوا أَمْرَهُ. مَاذَا يَعْنِي بِأَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ؟ يَعْنِي أَهْلَ الْبَدْوِ.

- When the two pillars collapsed!

- The structure was on the verge of ruin.
- وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ سَلَّمَ.
- But God kept it safe.
- لَقَدْ أَبْقَى اللَّهُ مِنْ حُمَاتِهِ حَمْزَةَ.
- God preserved Hamza among his protectors.
- وَعُمَرَ وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ وَغَيْرَهُمْ مِنْ أَفْدَانِ الرِّجَالِ.
- Along with Umar, Abu Bakr, and other champions of men.
- وَلَمْ يَكُنْ عَمُّهُ الْعَبَّاسُ لِيُسْلِمَهُ إِلَى أَعْدَائِهِ، عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ.
- His uncle Al-Abbas would not hand him over to his enemies, in any case.
- لَكَأَنَّمَا كَانَ عَمُّهُ أَبُو طَالِبٍ يَقْرَأُ مِنْ صَفَحَاتِ الْغَيْبِ، حِينَ تَوَقَّعَ لِابْنِ أَخِيهِ مَا لَقِيَهُ مِنْ فَوْزِ بَاهِرٍ، وَفَتْحٍ عَظِيمٍ.
- It was as if his uncle Abu Talib could read the unseen, foreseeing the dazzling victory and great conquest his nephew would eventually achieve.
- لَا يَعْرِفُ لَهُ تَارِيخُ الْعَالَمِ كُلِّهِ مَثِيلًا.
- World history knows no equal to it.
- تَعْنِي كَلِمَتَهُ الْخَالِدَةَ الَّتِي قَالَهَا وَهُوَ يُحْتَضَرُ؟
- Do you mean the immortal words he spoke on his deathbed?
- مَا عَنَيْتُ غَيْرَهَا.
- I meant nothing else.
- قَالَهَا وَهُوَ يُحْتَضَرُ؟
- He said them while dying?
- قَالَهَا وَهُوَ عَلَى فِرَاشِ الْمَوْتِ.
- He said them on his deathbed.
- وَهُوَ يُوَدِّعُ الدُّنْيَا وَدَاعَهُ الْأَخِيرَ.
- As he bid the world a final farewell.
- لَكَأَنَّ رُوحَهُ قَدْ كَشَفَتْ أَسْتَارَ الْغَيْبِ، وَاسْتَشَفَّتْ أَسْرَارَهُ، فَتَجَلَّى لِبَصِيرَتِهِ نُورُ الْحَقِيقَةِ الْبَاقِيَةِ، وَهُوَ يُفَارِقُ الْحَيَاةَ الْفَانِيَةَ.
- It was as if his soul had pulled back the veil of the unseen to perceive its secrets, the light of eternal truth revealing itself to his inner eye as he departed this fleeting life.
- وَلِلنَّفْسِ حَالَاتٌ تُرِيهَا كَأَنَّهَا سَتَشْهَدُ فِيهَا كُلَّ غَيْبٍ، سَتَشْهَدُ!
- The soul has states where it seems to witness everything hidden; it truly sees!
- أَبُو طَالِبٍ عَلَى فِرَاشِ الْمَوْتِ.
- Abu Talib on his deathbed.
- مَاذَا قَالَ عَمُّهُ؟
- What did his uncle say?
- قَالَ وَكَأَنَّمَا يُنَاجِي نَفْسَهُ:
- He said, as if speaking to himself:
- وَايْمُ الْحَقِّ، كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى صَعَالِيكِ الْعَرَبِ وَأَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ، وَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ النَّاسِ قَدْ أَجَابُوا دَعْوَتَهُ، وَصَدَّقُوا كَلِمَتَهُ، وَعَظَمُوا أَمْرَهُ.
- By the truth, I see the outcasts of the Arabs, the desert dwellers, and the downtrodden answering his call, believing his message, and honoring his mission.
- مَاذَا يَعْنِي بِأَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ؟

- يَعْنِي أَهْلَ الْبَدْوِ.
