(from previous page) ⟵ The basic rules of grammar and morphology, Umm Al-Qura for Printing, the style of specialization: a style in which an apparent noun is mentioned after a first-person pronoun, often singular or plural, to clarify the intended meaning, such as: I - the soldier - protect the homeland, and we - the daughters of Arabs - are partners of men.
وَقَدْ يَكُونُ الضَّمِيرُ لِلْمُخَاطَبِ - قَلِيلًا - مِثْلُ: بِكُمْ - مَعْشَرَ الْمُعَلِّمِينَ - تَنْهَضُ الْبِلَادُ، وَيَمْتَنِعُ ضَمِيرُ الْغَائِبِ.
Rarely, the pronoun may be in the second person, such as: 'Through you—O community of teachers—the country rises.' Third-person pronouns are not used in this construction.
The explicit noun that clarifies the pronoun is called the 'Mukhtass.' It must be definite, either by the article 'al-' or by genitive construction (idafa), and it functions grammatically as the object of an implicitly omitted verb, understood as 'I specify.'
