لَكِنَّهُ عِنْدَمَا أَصْبَحَ دَاخِلَ الْعَرَبَةِ وَرَاحَتْ تَبْتَعِدُ بِهِ سَمِعَ وَالِدَتَهُ تُنَادِيهِ. فَأَطَلَّ دِيفِيدُ مِنْ نَافِذَةِ الْعَرَبَةِ، وَوَجَدَهَا وَاقِفَةً بِمُفْرَدِهَا أَمَامَ بَوَّابَةِ الْحَدِيقَةِ، وَقَدْ رَفَعَتْ لَهُ الرَّضِيعَ بَيْنَ ذِرَاعَيْهَا كَيْ يَرَاهُ. كَانَ الْجَوُّ بَارِدًا خَالِيًا مِنَ الرِّيَاحِ؛ فَلَمْ تَهْتَزَّ شَعْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فِي رَأْسِهَا، وَلَا ثَنْيَةٌ مِنْ ثَنَيَاتِ فُسْتَانِهَا عِنْدَمَا وَقَفَتْ وَعَيْنَاهَا مُثَبَّتَتَانِ عَلَيْهِ، وَالرَّضِيعُ مَرْفُوعٌ بَيْنَ ذِرَاعَيْهَا. لَمْ يَرَهَا دِيفِيدُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ مُطْلَقًا.

Once he was inside the carriage and it began to pull away, he heard his mother calling him.
فَأَطَلَّ دِيفِيدُ مِنْ نَافِذَةِ الْعَرَبَةِ، وَوَجَدَهَا وَاقِفَةً بِمُفْرَدِهَا أَمَامَ بَوَّابَةِ الْحَدِيقَةِ، وَقَدْ رَفَعَتْ لَهُ الرَّضِيعَ بَيْنَ ذِرَاعَيْهَا كَيْ يَرَاهُ.
David leaned out of the carriage window and saw her standing alone by the garden gate, holding the baby up in her arms for him to see.
كَانَ الْجَوُّ بَارِدًا خَالِيًا مِنَ الرِّيَاحِ؛ فَلَمْ تَهْتَزَّ شَعْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فِي رَأْسِهَا، وَلَا ثَنْيَةٌ مِنْ ثَنَيَاتِ فُسْتَانِهَا عِنْدَمَا وَقَفَتْ وَعَيْنَاهَا مُثَبَّتَتَانِ عَلَيْهِ، وَالرَّضِيعُ مَرْفُوعٌ بَيْنَ ذِرَاعَيْهَا.
The air was cold and still; not a hair on her head stirred, nor a fold of her dress, as she stood watching him with her eyes fixed on his, the infant held high in her arms.
