الْحَادِيَةَ عَشْرَةَ: أَنَّ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ نِدًّا تَسَاوَتْ مَحَبَّتُهُ مَحَبَّةَ اللَّهِ فَهُوَ الشِّرْكُ الْأَكْبَرُ.

The eleventh: That whoever takes a rival, and his love for it equals his love for Allah, then that is the major polytheism.

وَالْوَعِيدُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: «فَلَا تَجْعَلُوا لِلَّهِ أَنْدَادًا» فَأَفَادَ الْمُؤَلِّفُ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَنَّ الْأَمْرَ هُنَا لِلْوَعِيدِ.

And the threat in His saying: 'So do not attribute to Allah equals' (2:22), so the author, may Allah have mercy on him, explained that the command here is for a threat.

لِقَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: «يُحِبُّونَهُمْ كَحُبِّ اللَّهِ» ثُمَّ بَيَّنَ فِي سِيَاقِ الْآيَاتِ أَنَّهُمْ مُشْرِكُونَ شِرْكًا أَكْبَرَ بِدَلِيلِ مَا لَهُمْ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ.

Due to His saying: 'They love them as they [should] love Allah' (2:165), then he clarified in the context of the verses that they are polytheists with a major polytheism, by the evidence of what they have of punishment.
