Their hooves strike the pebbles as if * they were breaking eggshells and glass between them.
ويقال: هم نهاء مائة ونهاء مائة أيضا، أي قدر مائة.

وأنهيت إليه الخبر فانتهى وتناهى، أي بلغ.

And it is said: this is a man, 'nāhīka min rajul', 'nahīka min rajul', and 'nahāka min rajul', and its interpretation is that by his merit and sufficiency, he restrains you from seeking another.
وهو الشيخ الذى حدثت عنه * نهاك الشيخ مكرمة وفخا
And he is the elder about whom you told me * the elder suffices you in honor and pride.
وإذا قلت نهيك من رجل كما تقول حسبك من رجل لم تثن ولم تجمع، لأنه مصدر.
And if you say 'nahīka min rajul' as you say 'hasbuka min rajul', you do not dualize or pluralize it, because it is a masdar.
وجزور نهية، على فعيلة، أي ضخمة سمينة.
And a 'nahiyyah' camel, on the pattern 'fa'īlah', meaning large and fat.
ويقال: طلب الحاجة حتى نهى عنها بالكسر، أي تركها، ظفر بها أو لم يظفر.
And it is said: he sought the need until he ceased from it (with kasrah), meaning he left it, whether he achieved it or not.
