ويقال: مأى ما بينهم مأيا، أي أفسد.
And it is said: 'Ma'a' what is between them, meaning it corrupted.
قال العجاج: ويعتلون من مأى في الدحس
Al-A'raj said: And they are afflicted by corruption in the digging.
وقد تمأى ما بينهم، أي فسد.
And what was between them has become corrupted, meaning it spoiled.
وأمأى القوم: صاروا مائة.
And the people became one hundred.
وأمأيتها لك: جعلتها مائة.
And I made it one hundred for you: I made it one hundred.
وأمأت غنم فلان، إذا صارت (*) مائة.
And so-and-so's sheep became one hundred, if they reached one hundred.
ومأت السنور تموء مواء، إذا صاحت، مثل أمت تأمو أماء.
And the cat meowed 'muwaa', if it cried out, like 'ammat' it cries out 'amaa'.
