A speckled, grey-backed creature of tattered garments has no * but the prey and its hunting is its livelihood.
وقد ضري الكلب بالصيد يضرى ضراوة، أي تعود.

ويقال للرجل إذا ختل صاحبه: هو يمشي له الضراء ويدب له الخمر.
And it is said of a man if he deceives his companion: He walks stealthily for him and plots against him.
عطفنا لهم عطف الضروس من الملا * بشهباء لا يمشي الضراء رقيبها
We turned towards them with the cunning of the fierce one from al-Malā * with a grey she-camel whose stealthy approach no watcher can follow.
واستضريت للصيد، إذا ختلته من حيث لا يعلم.
And I stalked the prey, if I ambushed it from where it did not know.
وضرية: قرية لبنى كلاب على طريق البصرة إلى مكة، وهى إلى مكة أقرب.
