فإذا خرج السلا سلمت الناقة وسلم الولد، وإن انقطع في بطنها هلكت وهلك الولد.
And if the amnion comes out, the mother and the young are safe, but if it is severed in her belly, she perishes and the young perishes.
ويقال: ناقة سلياء، إذا انقطع سلاها.
And it is said: a camel is saliyā', if her amnion is severed.
وسليت الناقة أسليها تسلية، إذا نزعت سلاها، فهي سلياء.
And I delivered the camel, I deliver her delivery, if you remove her amnion, then she is saliyā'.
وفي المثل: " وقع القوم في سلا جمل ", أي في أمر صعب.
And in the proverb: 'The people fell into the amnion of a camel,' meaning into a difficult situation.
ويقال: " انقطع السلا في البطن "، إذا ذهبت الحيلة، كما يقال: بلغ السكين العظم.
And it is said: 'The amnion was severed in the belly,' meaning the stratagem was lost, as it is said: the knife reached the bone.
