And I sought from the slave his value (to earn his freedom).

ويقال في الأمة خاصة: قد ساعاها

And it is said specifically for a female slave: she has committed adultery ('sāʿāhā').

ولا تكون المساعاة إلا في الإماء

And 'al-musāʿāh' (adultery) only occurs with female slaves.

وفي الحديث: " إماء ساعين في الجاهلية "

And in the hadith: 'Female slaves who committed adultery in the Jahiliyyah'.

وأتى عمر رضى الله عنه برجل ساعى أمة

And 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, was brought a man who had committed adultery with a female slave.
