Lightning khafa, it khufuw or khufiyan, when it flashed weakly and obliquely in the parts of the clouds.
فإن لمع قليلا ثم سكن وليس له اعتراض فهو الوميض، وإن شق الغيم واستطال في الجو إلى وسط السماء من غير أن يأخذ يمينا وشمالا فهو العقيقة.
If it flashes a little then stops and has no obliqueness, it is the 'wameed', and if it splits the cloud and extends into the sky to the middle of the sky without taking right or left, it is the 'aqeeqah'.
واستخفيت الشئ، أي استخرجته.

المختفي: النباش، لأنه يستخرج الأكفان.

إن الساعة آتية أكاد أخفيها
Indeed, the Hour is coming; I almost conceal it.
ويقرأ: (أخفيها)، أي أزيل عنها خفاءها، أي غطاءها.
And it is read: (ukhfeeha), meaning I remove its covering, meaning its veil.
وهو كقولهم: أشكيته، أي أزلته عما يشكوه.
And it is like their saying: ashkaytuhu, meaning I removed him from what he complains of.
