باتت تبيا حوضها عكوفا

Like ranks meeting ranks.
وعسعس نعم الفتى تبياه

لما تبيينا أخا تميم
When we recognized the man from Tamim.
أعطى عطاء اللحز اللئيم
He gave the gift of a stingy, base man.
بياك معناه بوأك منزلا
'Bayyāka' means 'He established you in a dwelling place.'
إلا أنها لما جاءت مع حياك تركت همزتها وحولت واوها ياء.
However, when it came with 'ḥayyāka,' its hamza was dropped and its waw was changed to a yaa.
حكيت للفراء قول خلف فقال: ما أحسن ما قال.
I recounted to Al-Farra' the saying of Khalaf, and he said: 'How excellent is what he said.'
ثم قيل له: حياك الله وبياك، فقال: وما بياك؟
Then it was said to him: 'May God give you life and bless you,' so he said: 'And what is 'bayyāka'?'
قيل: أضحكك.
It was said: 'May He make you laugh.'
وهو عندي على ما جاء تفسيره في الحديث، أي ليس بإتباع، وذلك أن الاتباع لا يكاد يكو بالواو، وهذا بالواو.
And in my opinion, it is as its interpretation came in the hadith, meaning it is not an echo word, because echo words are rarely with a waw, and this is with a waw.
وكذلك قول العباس في زمزم: " إنى لا أحلها لمغتسل، وهى لشارب حل وبل ".
And likewise is the saying of Al-Abbas about Zamzam: 'I do not permit it for bathing, but it is permissible for drinking.'
وقولهم: " ما أدري أي هي بن بي هو " أي أي الناس هو.
And their saying: 'I do not know who he is, son of whom he is,' meaning, 'which person is he?'
وهيان بن بيان، إذا لم يعرف هو ولا أبوه.
And Hayyan bin Bayyan, when neither he nor his father is known.
